Visions of Sugar Plums… Now?!

It wasn’t The Night Before Christmas. I wasn’t all snug in my bed. It was a cold April morning… and the sun was sky high.

Or was it The Son?  🙂   Sky high, indeed!

I did have Visions, though. Maybe not of Sugar Plums, per se… but of Sweet Treats all the same. Treats from You, Lord. Making my mouth — and my spirit — water!

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”   (Psalm 34:8)

We had driven 900 miles. To our summer getaway. I was so tired. My flesh was definitely weak. But my spirit was oh-so-willing, Lord… to savor every treat You placed in front of me.

Treats that reminded me of Your Nearness… and Your Unfailing Love.

Like the Yard Sale in full gear at our little church as we rolled into town. We hadn’t known about it in advance. But there it was… just as we came by.

So, we parked… and I bounded out of our car. What a sweet reunion with our Forever Family there! And by the time it was all over, we had raised over $1,200 for our local outreach to the needy.

Our best yard sale ever!  🙂

Then, the presence of red bud on our property. That beautiful harbinger of Spring that excited us with a sense of anticipation during the many years we lived in Virginia. Before we moved to Florida… where all seasons are Summer.  🙂

This is the first time we’ve been back to Virginia in the Spring. We assumed it was too late to see our old friend, Red Bud. But No… It greeted us from everywhere!

Including… our little summer getaway. So close to where we live! And so beautiful! Just like You, Lord.

Then, our very first harvest of asparagus in our vegetable garden. After four years of waiting. I walked around the corner and saw three young tender spears rising up out of the ground!

Three Tasty Treats. Like those Sugar Plums from days gone by. But this is just the beginning… isn’t it, Lord? You have so much more in store for me. Because You always do.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…”   (Ephesians 3:20)

But for now, You are blessing me in threes. Because every three You show me reminds me instantly of my favorite Three — Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  🙂

Maybe that’s why You named our little getaway for us… Sanctuary Hill.

Yep. The name fits. So do the Sugar Plums. But it isn’t The Night Before Christmas. It’s April. Yet it’s always Christmas where You’re concerned… isn’t it, Lord?

Because You came at Christmas. And You’re still here… forever!

What could be sweeter???    🙂
