Your Furry Messenger

I couldn’t get up last night. I wanted to come and write something to You, Abba… but You had pinned me down. I couldn’t get up… and I didn’t want to. I was lying down on the couch, covered with a soft blanket.  Taking a “cat nap.”  Except it was Skippy, our dear cat, who was napping.

Who Will Fulfill What Prophecy???

When is a LIE a Self-fulfilling Prophecy, Lord? Always. How does it start?  As a twisted conclusion after a trauma to the spirit? Traumas to the spirit are as numerous as they are devastating.  One of the most pervasive is this one:  “I’m not worth it.”   Not worth what?  Not worth noticing (by a

Words, Words and More Words

I just listened to the latest Republican Presidential Debate. Words, words and more words. Fighting words. Belittling words. Condemning words. Promising words. Justifying words. Clarifying words. Complaining words. Self-promoting words. Humble words. Passionate words. Desperate words. Arrogant words. Words, words and more words. I received a photograph this morning — an inspirational poster.  Sent by

“GOD EXISTS!”

I saw an awesome news clip today.  One that provoked that very declaration:   “GOD EXISTS!” One car, sideswiped by another, rolled down an embankment and hit a pole… bursting into flames.  Amazingly, the driver was rescued with “non-critical injuries.”  Thanks to “Good Samaritans” and safety workers arriving quickly at the scene. But the real jaw-dropper was what they found

Breakfast… with JOY!

JOY! That’s what I feel whenever You pull one of Your “patented” Divine Encounters, Lord!  After my initial shock and awe, that is.   🙂 Like today. We wanted a quick breakfast before leaving Miami for home.  Something simple.  We drove out of the hotel parking lot.  Within a half mile, we saw a fast food place…

Silencing the Crowd’s Roar

It only took us thirty-one years.  But tonight, we finally made it! We saw our first college basketball game LIVE!  Our favorite team, The University of Virginia, played the University of Miami.  In Miami. Talk about home court advantage! There’s something about being at a live game, Lord.  I am not exactly a “rabid” basketball fan.  Or

My Heavenly Bucket List

We came to a place today I had never been before.  Flamingo — the southernmost “outpost” in the Florida Everglades.  How could the day have been more beautiful, Lord? Sunny skies.  Temperature in the mid-seventies.  An amazing expanse of wide open “grass seas.”  That is, after all, the Everglades. Hundreds of birds.  Freshwater crocodiles. Manatees.  And

Miracle of the Yellow Roses

You never cease to amaze me, Lord.  (No big surprise, there!)   🙂 And not just when You do things like… well, part the Red Sea.  Some of Your most amazing moments are the “miracles” that go unnoticed by all but the most discerning eyes. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one

A Different Third Party Candidate

I have watched almost every televised debate and town hall meeting leading up to this year’s Presidential election.  Maybe it’s the times we are in.  Is this not the most significant election of my lifetime, Lord?  At least, to date? We have two political parties, though sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between them.  What they

Serendipity? Nope… Spirit-dipity!

How does a blind man describe an elephant?  Doesn’t it depend on which part of it he “sees” with his hands? How different is the challenge of describing You, Lord, when the person “looking” is spiritually-blind?  Does he inevitably “see” his “reality” without realizing he is missing Reality? Like the word Serendipity.  It popped into my head today and
