Symphony in Two Movements

We were in a coffee shop this morning.  I had gone there to meet a dear sister-in-Christ.

We had both gone there to meet You, Lord.

We hadn’t seen each other in many weeks.  This seemed to be our last opportunity to do so for quite some time to come.

There was no music at the coffee shop.  But as our conversation progressed, we realized we were hearing a Symphony in Two Movements… in the key of G Major.

Your key, Lord.  There is nothing more “major” than The Key of God!   🙂

We each had our own “movement” — our own story (stories) to share.  Stories about the paths along which You have been leading us.  The insights You have been revealing to us. The coaching (and conviction) You have been inviting us to embrace.  The blessings You have brought forth as the “fruit” of Your work — both in us and through us.

And just like a beautiful symphony has so often done, the Symphony You revealed today gave us both goosebumps!

Why?  Because there was no way we could have predicted how similar our paths had been! Similar, yet unique and intensely personal.

Our lives are very different.  Our circumstances are very different.  The work You have called each of us to do is very different.  Yet the insights, coaching and conviction You have imparted to each of us during this particular season is the same!

We have each been through a season of “overwhelm” in one way or another.  By Your grace, we had each recognized (and acknowledged) what was very clear to You.  We had taken certain “matters” into our own hands — saying “yes” to our flesh in ways that had turned our attention away from You.

We had both experienced Your persistent correction… bathed in Your love.  We had both lost sight (temporarily) of the urgency of the hour and had become (temporarily) sidelined. We had both risen up again.  Buoyed by Your loving kindness.  Restored by Your healing touch.

The bottom line?  You have much work for us to do and the time is growing short.  You need for us to be clean and clear of anything that would hinder us in following wherever You desire to lead us.  And there is only one way for us to go forward.

“I am The Way and The Truth and The Life.”  (John 14:6)

You have unique work for each of us to do.  Work that is precious to You.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  (Ephesians 2:10)

We must recognize our total dependence on You.

“I am the Vine; you are the branches.  If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”  (John 15:5)

AND we are called to do “our part” — the part You have given us to do — with all diligence.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”  (Colossians 3:23-24)

Today’s Symphony in Two Movements… in the key of G Major.  Heavenly music to our ears!  And perhaps to others’ ears, too?

Could it be that You are doing this all over the world, Lord… for such a time as this?

“… be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.  Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (Ephesians 5:19-20)

Grateful indeed,

Abba’s Girl
