The Yeast in My Loaf

I’ve never thought about You quite like that, Lord.  This is definitely “A First!”

You’re more than yeast, after all… You’re the WHOLE LOAF!   🙂

“I am the Bread of Life.  Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.”  (John 6:35)

I have been feeling a little “down” the last couple of days.  Down… but not “out.”

Acknowledging my struggles to You, to be sure.  Yet in the same breath, acknowledging Your nearness and Your love.

How wonderful it is, Lord, to know that in every pain… there lives a promise!

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”  (Romans 8:28)

Maybe that’s why this morning, I realized something had changed.   I felt something rising up inside me.

Like yeast that spreads through the whole dough.  Lifting it with air.  Making it rise.

“… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”  (Isaiah 40:31)

To my surprise, the struggles were gone today.

I’m not saying they are gone forever.  But today, I didn’t feel their grip.

The post-its helped… A LOT.  Strategically placed wherever temptation had reared its ugly head of late.  Interrupting me in a given moment.  Reminding me of Your powerful truth:

“CHOICE!  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)”

What was left in the wake of my struggle was… PEACE.  And VICTORY!

For today…  where LIFE happens.

“Today is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  (Psalm 118:24)

“… do not worry about tomorrow…”  (Matthew 6:34)

Maybe that’s why the metaphor of yeast fits You so well, Lord… especially now.

No one has ever risen like You!  No one can ever make me rise like You can!

And there’s nothing like freshly-baked Bread… is there, Lord?   🙂

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.”   (Psalm 34:8)

Salivating for more of You,

Abba’s Girl
