The King of Technology – Part 1

Some would say that title belongs to Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.  They are technology giants, to be sure.

But there’s only one King.

This morning, You brought to my mind the song I had tried to play just days ago — “Wonderful, Merciful Savior,” as sung by Calling Levi.  When I had pressed its title on my iPhone, a totally different song had played:  “Where You Begin,” by Mandisa.

It was not a technology snafu.  It was a Divine Orchestration.  Because You, Lord, were leading me down a different path of worship that day.  (“The Rest of The Story, Parts 1 & 2”)

This morning, You brought that first song to my mind again.  So I tried to play it again.  And the same things happened… again!  Except this time, a different “wrong” song began to play!

In an instant, I heard You whisper:  “Come, follow Me.”  So I did.  Not once, but three times. And I know now that You were actually playing the Right Songs, for today’s Right Moment.

First, I picked “Wonderful, Merciful Savior”… but You played “You Are Eternal” by Don Moen.

“You are eternal, unchanging.  Your love forever will be unfailing.  You have a covenant with me.  You are eternal, and forever You will be my God.”

Next, I actually picked the song You gave me — “You are Eternal.”  But this time, You played “You Are the Lord” by Tim Reinherr.

“Every other god is an idol who cannot see, who cannot hear.  There is one True Living God.  You are the Lord!  There is no other God!  You are the Lord… and You shall reign!”

Again, I picked Your pick — “You Are the Lord.”  But this time, You played “You Thought of Us,” by the group called By Design.

“The nightmare [of Your final days on Earth] coming true before Your eyes… You could have spared Your life and still had Paradise, but all Your Love for us caused You to stay…  We were the very ones who turned away Your Love… and even when the pain we put You through became too much, You thought of us.”

By then, I was soaking in a puddle of tears.  Tears of Wonder.  Tears of Worship.  Tears of profound Gratitude.

Because my initial curiosity at where Your Musical Adventure might take me today had given way to conviction.  And then, to the irresistible draw of Your compassionate, Covenant Love.  With which You captivated my heart once again.. even today.

When You knew I needed to remember Your Unfailing Kindness.  Your All-Sufficient Grace. Your Steadfast Trustworthiness.  Your Irrevocable Love.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”  (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…”  (Isaiah 40:31)

Yes, there’s only one King of Technology.  I’ll share the rest of that “WOW” story tomorrow.

Today, it’s enough to say there’s only one King — a Wonderful, Merciful Savior, indeed.
