Ready for Heart Surgery

Lord, Lord, Lord…

I just got home from my second of two, back-to-back days of intense introspection.  It was my business coaching club.  Christian business owners — men and women — You have called to build various enterprises.  Enterprises that provide valuable services to their (our) customers while advancing Your Kingdom.

Once again, I plan to very soon fall into bed so I can (later, in a more rested state) better process all You began to show me there.  We spent a lot of time talking about the power of core beliefs, especially those that have to do with our identity (who we are) and our spirituality (who You are).  Our thoughts, feelings and behaviors all stem from our core beliefs.

So, what If any of these core beliefs is false?

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”  (Psalm 51:10)

You uncovered one in me, Lord… a false core belief.  It is one that has been with me since early childhood.  One You have already substantially conquered with Your Truth.  In the process, You have brought me profound, even miraculous, healing and freedom.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…”  (Isaiah 61:1)

But You are not finished yet.  You made that abundantly clear to me in these last two days.  You are inviting me to a new adventure with You, Lord… one of those “get out of the boat and follow Me” kind of adventures that calls for walking by faith to a place only You can take me.  A place I’ve never been before.  A place of even deeper healing.  A place I must go if I am to truly taste the abundant life You have prepared for me.

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  (Matthew 19:26)

The enemy doesn’t want me to go there with You.  He tipped his hand this morning in an obvious way.  You wanted me to know this, so You ordered my steps in a dramatic way.  Something significant happened today as I was driving from the hotel to our meeting.  Numerous “environmental” factors had to all be perfectly orchestrated and timed for me to be in a particular place at a precise moment — the time I left the hotel, the amount of traffic, the timing of the stop lights… all so I would pull up next to a particular car with its radio loudly blaring these song lyrics:

“Let me tell you ‘You’re afraid.’  Let me tell you, ‘You’re afraid.’  Let me tell you ‘You’re afraid.'”

By Your Spirit, I knew immediately it was the voice of the enemy.  What does he want me to be afraid of, Lord?  Coming into Your Presence, so You can tell me the Truth?  About me?  About You?  About the plans You have for me?  And isn’t it interesting that he said, “Let me tell you…” Signaling to me that I “can” let him,,, or NOT.  I have a choice.  I must exercise it!

As if that were not enough, I arrived at the meeting.  We begin each day with worship.  The very first song we sang today was “Voice of Truth”… with these precious lyrics:

“The Voice of Truth says… Do not be afraid! … Jesus, YOU are the Voice of Truth!”

You never cease to amaze me!!!  I will journal about this process with You as You unfold it.  In the meantime, let me just say:  I am not afraid, Lord.  I am eager!  I accept — embrace — Your invitation.  And I implore You:  Have Your way!!!
