No Going Back…

It was a beautiful weekend.

A time of Reconnections.  Resurrecting distant memories from days long past.  Releasing new memories into Tomorrows yet to be imagined.

Memories centered in our quiet, peaceful, lakefront place hidden from the stress of Mainstream America.  Our safe, small town place with all the best from Yesteryear.  A place of No Fear… only FUN.

Until last night… When an anonymous someone stole The Joy.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”  (John 10:10)

The Joy now MIA was embodied in some fishing poles and a tackle box and a trolling motor.  Nothing that can’t be replaced.  Except the memories also embodied in them.

Memories of a tackle box handed down from a father to a son.  Memories of a love of fishing ignited through many father-son outings.  Memories of fishing on this particular lake now marred by the goods that got away.

In the hands of a thief.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”  (John 10:10)

But the thief never has the last word… unless we let him.  Right, Lord?

“I have come that they may have Life and have it to the full.”  (John 10:10)

FULL Life!  ABUNDANT Life!  Even when a thief pulls the rug out from under our feet? No… especially then.  When lost people act like… well, lost people.

When we rise above our present trials because we decide to choose YOU, Lord.  Because there’s really no going back…is there?  There’s only one way to go – forward.

And only One who can take us there.

“Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles…”  (Isaiah 40:28,31)

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”  (2 Corinthians 4:18)

Expectantly,

Abba’s Girl
