My Latest UPs and DOWNs

UP at 5:00 AM every day… fine-tuning the Labor of Love that will soon be in print.   “Soon”… meaning as little as two months. Not long, in light of its content spanning a lifetime.

History.  His-Story.  Your Story in my life.

UP emotionally, when I reflect on that Story.  Those Stories.  So many Stories in this particular book.  So many Stories yet to tell. Only so many hours in a day to write such Stories… so I have not been posting here of late.

DOWN… The direction the tears on my face trickle, as they overflow from the Joy welling UP in my heart.  All because of You, Lord!

The Land DOWN Under — Australia and New Zealand.  My planned destination for Christmas.  A once-in-a-lifetime adventure spanning the next three weeks.  The trip that was supposed to start yesterday, except for…

UP… The contents of my stomach after I awoke, that I “threw” into the toilet.  Time and time again.  The pain in my back so intense, tears of a different kind flowed DOWN.

DOWN… to the ER we went.  Where I spent the morning, instead of finishing my last-minute packing. The ER personnel all seemed to know the problem even before the tests confirmed it.

My very first kidney stone.  Tiny… but packing a powerful punch!

DOWN it traveled, announcing its presence… until pain meds calmed it DOWN and sent my emotions UP.  Grateful for the diagnosis (it could have been much worse).  Grateful for the relief as the pain subsided.  I rested most of the day, back at home.

Grateful for another amazing discovery — the fact that we were able to reschedule our flights to the Land DOWN Under.  Leaving tomorrow. Still in time for Christmas!

But Christmas has already arrived… hasn’t it, Lord?  It’s here every day.  Ever since You came DOWN from Heaven to rescue us.  You came in order to be lifted UP on that old rugged Cross.  So You could lift us UP out of the pit of our sin.

Yes, Christmas is here for all of us.  If we would only wake UP to it.  To You.

“For to us a Child is born, to us a Savior is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  (Isaiah 9:6)

Eagerly looking UP,

Abba’s Girl
