I looked outside the trailer this morning as we began our fellowship together, Lord. My first sight led to my first thought.
A beautiful, tall evergreen tree, with its lowest boughs spreading out some 30 feet in diameter. Like a huge Christmas tree, right next to our trailer.
So like You, Lord — ever “GREEN”!!! Beautiful, no matter what “weather” we experience in life. Steadfast in every “season” of our lives.
The Source and Stimulus of Growth whenever we are ready (and/or need) to “SPRING” forward.
“Be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:17-18)
The Place of Shade and Rest whenever our “SUMMER heat” becomes oppressive.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
The Trustworthy Anchor whenever our plans and dreams that once exploded with vibrant color fade and FALL away.
“In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came before Him, into His ears… He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters… He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.” (Psalm 18:6,16,19)
The Shelter and Refuge whenever an icy blast turns my WINTER “snowscape” into an avalanche.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord ‘He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God in whom I trust… He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your Shield and Rampart.” (Psalm 91:1,4)
So like You also, Lord, to have us choose this particular campsite of the several that were offered to us. So we would back into this particular wooded area, positioned in just such a way that I would see this particular tree at this particular moment. !!! 🙂
Isn’t that what You are doing every single day, Lord? Orchestrating and/or inviting us to move in ways that “position” us to truly see You, time and time again, so we can come to truly know You? If only we will open our eyes and our hearts…
“Be good to Your servant while I live, that I may obey Your Word. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in Your law.” (Psalm 119:17-18)
You did it again, Lord! You gave me another totally unique encounter with You today, as we began this new day together! So, maybe I should nickname today “The Day of The Evergreen” ??? 🙂
No, Lord? Hmm… I see Your point. That would just be one more “box” to try to squeeze You into. Because, thankfully, that nickname fits every moment of every day — 24 / 7 / 365 !!!
All the more reason to PRAISE YOU, Lord!!!
Joyfully Yours, 24/7/365 and forever… 🙂
