In The Wee Hours…

I love that Time and Space, Lord… in the Wee Hours.

That time and space between Dreaming and Waking.  Where no distractions dwell.  Where there is only… You.

Where I can express my love to You from its well in my heart.  With nothing and no one competing for my attention.

Like this morning.

How I want to give You my whole heart, Lord!  All I have stored in it!  Even the “pennies” on the Path where You are leading.  The ones that catch my eye, so I bend to pick them up.

Taking my eyes off You.

Pennies that I “pinch” — save, grasp, hold onto.  Pennies that add up in Space and Weight.

Pennies that, IF I gave them to You, would become Priceless Treasure.

Pennies that, WHEN I give them to You, will become Priceless Treasure.

Treasure beyond any paper money into which I could convert them.  Treasures beyond any credit cards I could use instead of them.

Because Your economy is paperless.  And with You, I have Unlimited Credit.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.  And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”  (Matthew 10:29-31)

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”  (Isaiah 33:6)

Do not be afraid?  Because You love me.  Yet, fear of You is the key to the treasure of salvation and wisdom and knowledge?

I “fear” repercussions from a state trooper who may catch me speeding.  So I change my behavior.  I brake in known “speed traps” or whenever I see a patrol car.  Better yet, I set my cruise control at the speed limit… and drive worry-free.

I have learned the value of Peace of Mind.

How is it, Lord, that I would “fear” repercussions from earthly authorities and not “fear” the Authority of authorities?  Surely the boundaries You set for our protection are no less important or worthy than those set by earthly authorities.

Yes… Fear of You is reverence.  Yet fear of You is also that which moves us to obey Your boundaries.  To change our behavior.  To seek after holiness rather than settle for sinfulness.

Because with that kind of fear comes the wisdom and knowledge to understand that Your boundaries have been set out of Your Profound Love for us.

Like a shower with soap that opens our pores so our skin can breathe.  So is the spiritual bath You provide — the color of Red — that cleanses our soul and lets our spirit breathe.

“If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”  (1 John 1:7)

Yes, Lord… How I love the wee hours!!!

Awakening still,

Abba’s Girl
