In The Darkness Before Dawn

It was only a dream.

I was running across a battlefield.  Weaving and dodging.  Weaving and dodging.  The bullets filled the air around me like horizontal rain… passing so close, I could feel the “breeze” of their velocity raise the hair on my neck.

The bullets rained.  But they did not reign.  I remained… unscathed.

Your PROTECTION, Lord!

“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us again.  On Him we have set our Hope that He will continue to deliver us.”  (2 Corinthian 1:10)

I came upon two abandoned vehicles.  They weren’t tanks so much as mobile shelters.  Inside, I found stale food… and one unopened bag of crackers.

Your PROVISION, Lord!

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 4:19)

I had left the door ajar.  At one point, a platoon of enemy soldiers moved past the shelter. I froze like a statue.

They moved past without entering.  A single warrior turned around.  He looked right at me… or rather, through me.  As if I was invisible.  He turned back and continued his march. They disappeared from view.

Your POWER, Lord!

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the Hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”  (Ephesians 1:18-19a)

It was only a dream.

Or was it?

I am running across a battlefield, even now.  Weaving and dodging.  Weaving and dodging. I will keep moving — serving in Your “army,” Lord — until You say it is time to stop.

Because the war is finally over.

“Look!  God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them.  They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.  He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”  (Revelation 21:3-4)

In grateful anticipation,

Abba’s Girl
