A Prophetic Ride

I headed out in a different direction for my bicycle ride today.

I didn’t realize it would be A Prophetic Ride.

It wasn’t the traffic (which was almost nil).  It wasn’t the direction (which, before it was over, was North, South, East and West). It wasn’t the pace (which was fairly brisk, despite the conditions).  It wasn’t the distance (which exceeded my recent “bests”).

It was the wind.

I was pedaling against the wind.  The whole way.  It didn’t matter which direction I turned.  I was always pushing against the wind.  Even when I circled an entire lake.

It didn’t make sense.  Normally, I could expect the wind to be in my face, and then across my path, and then at my back.  But today, it was in my face… the whole way.

That’s when I knew it wasn’t natural, Lord… it was supernatural.  Because You had something to say to me.

Suddenly, I wasn’t totally “there” on my bike.  I was lost in thoughts about The Days we are in.  The shouts that are clamoring for attention.  The voices that are not being heard.  The Voice that is speaking clearly… even through whispers.

“… the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.'”  (John 1:23)

“Today, if only you would hear His Voice.  Do not harden your hearts…”  (Psalm 95:7)

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a Voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”  (Isaiah 30:21)

Sometimes You ask us to unlock every door and let You in, Lord.  Sometimes You invite us to come away with You… so we can follow You to places that are impossible to go on our own.  Priceless places…

… even when all the way there, we must travel against the wind.

I was working up a sweat today as I pedaled… and pedaled… and pedaled some more.  I hadn’t expected the ride to be so… challenging.

The bike ride today.  This Prophetic Ride of Life.

Yet even as the realization of it all sank in, I couldn’t help but notice the encouragement You sent.  Not once, but twice.

The two sand hill cranes standing near the water as I passed by.  Mates for life.  There for each other.  Faithful and True.

The two “lovebirds” — the human kind — holding hands as they ran along the water’s edge.  I couldn’t see their faces.  But I could tell by the “bounce” in their gate that they were full of joy.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory.  For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.”  (Revelation 19:7)

I can keep pedaling.  Come hell or high water.  Against any and every opposing wind.

Because You will come… soon.

Because meanwhile, even now, You are here.

Because by Your grace, Beloved, I am and remain… forever Yours.

I just read this blog this morning and was amazed at the scripture you quoted. Yesterday morning before church began a small group of us were praying for the day’s service. These scriptures came as a saw a scene of the wedding feast being readied and the question was, ” Will you lay everything aside and if I came today would you be wearing the wedding garments I have prepared for you; will your flask be filled with oil; are you ready today?” He stands at the door and knocks and when we open that door o Him, he comes in and dines with us. We don’t exist here on crumbs from His table but He prepares a feast for us in the very presence of our enemies; and all we have to do is drop everything and open the door! The wind of His Spirit blows were it will; it really doesn’t matter what direction it comes from because He is in it! He knows where we need to go and how to get us there. May our spiritual senses be exceedingly fine-tuned to the voice of our Good Shepherd.

Amen and Amen! Isn’t it amazing how He makes His Presence known to us… speaking with one Voice, everywhere, in any given moment???!!! Blessings, dear sister.
