Words, Words and More Words

Sometimes, Lord, You leave me speechless.

Like when You weave a tapestry together — a masterpiece — with the words You give us to share with others who need words from You.  With the words You send directly to each of us, in personal and powerful ways that need no intermediary.

No one does this like You, Lord.  No one ever could.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  (John 1:1)

Today, You moved me to pray as I gathered together with a Forever Sister-in Christ.  A prayer of Welcome to You.  A prayer of Gratitude and Trust and Expectancy.

You had me pray this Welcome with unique words.  Words that spoke to my Sister in unique ways.  Ways that spurred her to remember other words You had given her long ago.

Words, words and more words.

She has heard too many medical words lately.  Words that raise more questions than answers.  Words of testing and waiting.

Unexpected words, painting unwanted pictures of unappealing options.

Not long ago, You wove words into songs.  In the midst of her uncertainty.  In unexpected places.  In unlikely ways.

She was on vacation.  Before the symptoms and the doctor visits began.  She was surrounded by beauty so acute, she felt like crying with joy.  She heard soft music.  Playing in the background.

She is a song bird for You.  Lifting praises with other-worldly grace.  She treasures such notes and words. Suddenly, lyrics crystallized.  A song she had never heard before. She knew it was You, Lord… speaking to her.

Words of Reassurance.  Words of Love, a Father for His daughter.  Words of Promise — Your protection and deliverance.

Words of Peace.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”  (Isaiah 54:10)

Just days later, she was in the doctor’s office.  Waiting.  Worrying.  She heard soft music.

Suddenly, lyrics crystallized.  Another song new to her ears.  It was You, Lord… speaking to her again. Different words… but the same messages.

Words of Reassurance.  Words of Love, a Father for His daughter.  Words of Promise — Your protection and deliverance.

Words of Peace.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”  (Isaiah 41:10)

Where are You leading her, Lord?  Into a valley?  Or the Valley of the Shadow?  Too soon to tell.  But meanwhile, it’s the journey that counts… isn’t it?

“I am the Light of the World.  Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.”  (John 8:12)

Trusting,
