With New Eyes

It’s amazing the many “languages” You use to speak to us, Lord.

Like the “language” of a broken, concrete foundation.

We had gathered to pray.  We discussed Your call to re-stake the land, to set it apart for You.  As we prayed, an image flashed in my mind.  It was so vivid, I knew it was significant.

It was the “pump house” behind our home.  The small structure that houses the water pump and tank for our deep well. The simple technology that provides us with water.

A few days ago, we had removed an old tank.  A huge tank taking up space.  An empty tank, abandoned for decades.

It was embedded in concrete.  We needed a jackhammer to free it.

Leaving a hole in the foundation.

This was the image You chose, Lord.  But what did it mean?  The words began to flow…

Uncovering what has been buried.  Breaking the hardened crust.  Removing every barrier so Living Water can bubble up and overflow… cleansing what has been hidden.

It takes work… and tools.  In the spirit?  Weapons — with power.  Your weapons, Lord.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds…”  (2 Corinthians 10:4)

In the natural, it was a jackhammer.  But Your name isn’t “Jack,” Lord.  It is Jesus!  So, in the spirit we need… a Jesus-hammer?

You are the power we must hold onto!

“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power… For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…”  (Ephesians 6:10,12)

“With God all things are possible.”  (Matthew 19:26)

Removing the tank from our pump house took several strong guys.  So it is that we must labor together, in the spirit, to remove the old cisterns.  Cisterns holding bitter waters — like racism, division, idolatry, witchcraft, Masonry…

Rolling away old cisterns so new foundations can be laid.

“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations… you will be called Repairer… Restorer…”  (Isaiah 48:12)

New Foundations with New Cisterns.  Holding sweet water.  Living Water.  Producing an abundant harvest in — and through — Your church.

“I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”  (Acts 13:47)

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  (Galatians 6:9)

One church, uniting every skin color and race and language and denomination in LOVE.

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”  (Galatians 3:28)

And as we hold onto You, Lord, and lift You up… we overcome!

“They triumphed over [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” (Revelation 12:11)

Wow, Lord… What a picture!  All this out of a home improvement project???   🙂

Seeing with new eyes,

Abba’s Girl
