Will “The Real Me” Please Stand Up?

I love these seasons, Lord.  Seasons of Being.  Seasons of Becoming.

Being Yours.  Becoming more… of all You have desired since You created the heavens and the earth.  For Your Glory.  For those You have destined me to love toward You.  For my blessing, now and forever.

Who am I that You would even think of me, Lord? (Psalm 8:4)  Yet You chose me… to be Yours forever?  (Isaiah 43:1)  To love me like no other?  (Romans 5:8)  To labor together, fruitfully, forever and ever?  (John 15:16)

What a miracle is Your Love, Lord!  What a treasure is Your Grace!

And now, we are in another such season… aren’t we, Lord?

A Season of Being.  A Season of Becoming.

Clay in the hands of The Master Potter.  Being shaped and molded.  Changing from blob to Beauty.  Mound to Masterpiece.

Rock in the hands of the Master Sculptor.  Being chiseled and sanded.  Revealing the inner me You had put there all along.

Canvas in the hands of the Master Painter.  Rainbows of colors made all the more vibrant by their contrast to shadows.

Music in the heart of the Master Composer.  Every discordant note woven into a Melody of Praise.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  (Ephesians 2:10)

I don’t know where You’re headed, Lord… but I know it’s where I want to go.  And I know the only way There is by going deeper with You.

No more “Play Dough.”  No paint-by-the-numbers.  No chopsticks on the piano.  Something much deeper, so there can be…

Deeper Insight.  Deeper Understanding.  Deeper Healing.  Deeper Faith.  Deeper Hope.

I want to be ready, Lord.  I want to be willing.  To say “Yes” to You… in answer to whatever question You want to ask.  Yet I also know my heart, Lord.  I know my need.  I know the games I play and the masks I wear… even now.

And I am forever grateful that You do, too… and that You won’t let me fail.

“To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy — to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!”  (Jude 24)

Let this next Adventure begin in earnest, Lord.  So that the Real Me — the parts of me that are still hidden, even to me — can finally stand up.  Healthy and Whole.

With great anticipation,

Abba’s Girl
