Who Will Fulfill What Prophecy???

When is a LIE a Self-fulfilling Prophecy, Lord?

Always.

How does it start?  As a twisted conclusion after a trauma to the spirit?

Traumas to the spirit are as numerous as they are devastating.  One of the most pervasive is this one:  “I’m not worth it.”

Not worth what?  Not worth noticing (by a parent who is preoccupied with everything and everyone else)?  Not worth loving (by a parent who perhaps didn’t really want us in the first place)?

When does such a twisted conclusion become a Self-fulfilling Prophecy?  When it becomes the “lens” through which we see — and experience — Life.  “Evidence” of The Lie mounts up around us, trapping us in a foreboding “promised land.”

Foreboding because the “promise” is perverted.

Something we settle for.  Something we soak in.  Something we drive ourselves to disprove through unrelenting, unsatisfying over-achievement.  Something we give ourselves to…

… until You rock our world, Lord!  With Truth that makes a way where there is no way.

“Jesus answered, ‘I am The Way and The Truth and The Life.'”   (John 14:6)

“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” (Psalm 40:1-2)

In a flash of revelation, Self-fulfilling Prophecy is replaced with Savior-fulfilling Prophecy. And we discover we are worth more than we ever dreamed possible!

How much are we really worth, Lord?  To You, even if to no one else?

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  (Romans 5:8)

“He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all — how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”  (Romans 8:32)

We are so worth fighting for… aren’t we, Lord?  You fought for us like no one else ever has or ever will… or ever could.  You fought for us… and You won.

“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”  (Colossians 2:15)

And because You won, Lord… we can win.  In the present moment… and for the rest of our lives… and for all of eternity.

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”  (John 5:24)

Am I willing to settle for a land (a life) of perverted promises?

No, Lord… I want the real Promised Land!  And I KNOW it is mine to have, because “I am SO worth it”… to You!

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.”  (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Coming to my senses, one Truth at a time…
