When The Plot Thickens…

What, Lord?  When the plot thickens, just do… what???

We have gone into Self-Defense Mode… cyber-style.  Who would have ever imagined we would become — or, at least, try to become — Geeks???  Techno Titans???  How else are we supposed to validate what’s really going on?

Our Internet Service Provider has claimed recently that we have been using our Gigabytes up at an alarming rate.  (They said an “accelerating” rate.  But this acceleration was “alarming” to us!)   🙂   We were convinced we were not to blame.  Perhaps it was their equipment?  Perhaps their tracking had gone haywire?

Impossible, they retorted.  Their final effort to disavow any corporate responsibility consisted of a home visit by one of their techs  To check all of their hardware.  Conclusion?  Everything was “fine.”  (Except for switching to a new “spot beam” — whatever that is — to get a stronger signal).

The tech left.  We were fine for the next few hours.  Then suddenly, in the span of 90 minutes — when we were not doing anything — we received an email notification from the ISP claiming we had used 3 Gigabytes of data.  In 90 minutes???  NO WAY!!!

They hadn’t really believed us up to this point.  So we did what any other alarmed customer might consider doing.  We downloaded our own data usage tracker!  

The plot thickens…!!!

Now we know what’s happening with our bits and bytes, real time.   By computer.  By day.  By hour.  By downloads and uploads.  We have real data with which to confirm — or dispute — the claims of our ISP.

Does that make us armed and dangerous, Lord???   🙂   Time will tell…

It’s like the old saying goes, “Information is Power.”  As long as the information is true, that is… right, Lord?  Actually, I guess information is powerful whether it’s true or not.  But whether it is or it isn’t is pretty significant…

… because of where it leads us.

“If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples.  Then you will know The TRUTH, and The TRUTH will set you free.”  (John 8:31)

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is TRUE, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things… And the God of peace will be with you.”  (Philippians 4:8-9)

Freedom from future diputes with our ISP?  Peace that comes with having data to back up our own claims?  Maybe.

But the PEACE and FREEDOM You offer, Lord, mean so much more!

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have PEACE.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”  (John 16:33)

“So if the Son sets you FREE, you are FREE indeed!”  (John 8:36)
