What Are You Up To, Lord?

I can’t help but wonder, Lord, as I get ready for bed tonight.

What are You doing, even now, in the minds and hearts of my colleagues… as they prepare for the assignment You gave them tonight?

I am full to overflowing with the blessings of today, Lord!  I have spent all day with my coaching group — brothers and sisters-in-Christ, all of them business owners, gathered together again to seek You for clarity and equipping concerning the callings You have on each of our lives.

We get together like this three times a year for two days.  Two days of teaching and listening and discerning and learning.  One of the highlights of our time together is the opportunity afforded to each member to sit in the “Help Seat” and ask for the group’s counsel concerning whatever specific issue the member wants to address.

Between our two coaches, Tom and Pam Wolf, and the rest of the group, I am constantly amazed by how You call out the gifts, talents and wisdom You have imparted to everyone present.

Of course, the main Source of this great help is You, Lord!

My Help Seat comes tomorrow.  I have been asking You for over a week what issue You wanted me to put before the group. Whenever I called out to You about this, Lord, I never got a “busy signal.”  I got no answer at all…

… until this morning.

I could almost hear Your actual voice speaking to me, Lord… giving me my “issue” for the group.

“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”  (Isaiah 65:24)

By Your grace, the work You have called me to do is deeply transforming.  I am to deliver services that transform — through eternal value and practical impact.  One thing You have made clear to me:  I must learn more about how such deep transformations actually occur.

So tonight, all the members of this group — people who have each become dear to me in one way or another — are asking You what You would have them share with me tomorrow.  In response to this assignment:

Think about a significant transformation you have experienced in your life.  Not your “salvation” experience… but one that has happened since Christ came into your life.  Share with me what led up to that moment of transformation — your thoughts, circumstances, etc. that made the “ground” inside you fertile for the seed of transformation to explode.  Tell me how the Lord triggered the actual transformation — what He used to help the “light bulb come on” for you so you then turned away from whatever was before.  And then, how did the Lord “cement” the transformation… so you left that moment of breakthrough really different from how you entered it.

I can hardly wait for tomorrow, Lord!  I know You will use the principles of transformation their stories reflect to help me in the precious work You have me to do.  And yet… I am also believing the purpose of this assignment goes way beyond the value it will impart to me.

I have the distinct feeling that real transformation will actually occur tomorrow… in one or more lives — perhaps in all of our lives — as we gather together in Your presence and share from our hearts with transparency.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever!  Amen.”  (Ephesians 3:20)

AMEN!

So I ask You again, Lord:  What are You up to?

With great — and grateful — anticipation,

Abba’s Girl
