Turning Molasses into… Jet Fuel!

I know all of Your Promises are true, Lord… even when I don’t yet have proof.  Because You are Truth.  You never lie.  Even so, I do love those times when it seems like You go out of Your way to provide Evidence!!!

Like today.  When our Internet started moving like molasses.  At first, it was just excruciatingly slow. Then we couldn’t even send emails!  I couldn’t open my own website!

Something was very wrong.  I had received a series of notices from our satellite provider about our usage.  Claiming we were using our monthly capacity at an accelerating — and unprecedented — rate. Forty percent in the first eleven days?!  Another 30% in the next eight days?!  Another 20% in one day?! The remainiing 10% in three days?!

Two “mature” adults who have earned every one of our grey hairs?   🙂   Using 100% of 15 GB in just three weeks through emails, blog posts and moderate surfing?  NO WAY!  Maybe if we were twenty-somethings with a housefull of children, constantly downloading movies or live streaming or gaming…

Maybe their equipment was malfunctioning?  I called our Internet service provider.

And the Provider of providers.   🙂

“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.”  (Psalm 40:1)

The customer service rep politely asked how he could help me.  I explained the problem as clearly and kindly as I could.  This problem wasn’t our fault… but it wasn’t his, either.

“A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.”  (Proverbs 15:18)

He looked at the usage, noting we still had 100% of our allotted bandwidth during the hours of 2 AM and 8 AM.  As if this could be the answer???  I explained we were sleeping then.

“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”  (Proverbs 19:11)

He then offered to let me speak to technical support, so they could answer any questions I might have about “how the Internet works.”  ???  I said I would be glad to talk with them, but then wondered out loud how they could solve my problem.

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”  (Proverbs 15:1)

He offered to sell us one more Gigabyte for $10, to get us through this service period.  Again, as clearly and kindly as I could, I explained the problem I had with having to buy more capacity when we could not have possibly used the capacity we had already paid for.

Suddenly, he got it!  My problem became his to solve.  He thanked me for being a long-standing customer.  He said the provider had approved giving us five more gigabytes!  Plenty of capacity to finish out our month.  In another fve minutes, that molasses became jet fuel!!!

You’re amazing, Lord!!!

“We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His Will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may… have great endurance and patience… giving joyful thanks to the Father…”  (Colossians 1:9,11b-12)

JOYFULLY… !!!

GRATEFULLY…!!!
