Troubleshooting… Or Just SHOOTING?!

Computers are our friends… right, Lord?

At least, that’s what I tell myself over and over whenever I run into a technology problem.

Like today.

I have learned the hard way that the wisest course of action is usually to call Tech Support. I have even been known to pay an annual fee to make sure I have a “go to” tech guru to GO TO 24/7.

Except sometimes, even the tech guys are stumped.

Like today.

I won’t rehash all of the painful details.  I have already spent more than an hour on my knees.  Disconnecting and reconnecting computer monitors.  Checking power supplies and circuit breakers.

Doing all manner of physical maneuvers under and around my desk that could have been footage from an Infomercial for a hip new workout program:  “Stretch Your Body Beyond Recognition” by Contortion Specialists.

And yes, Lord… I was also on my knees in prayer.

[Was that right before the thought entered my mind to drop the “trouble” from “troubleshoot” and join the National Rifle Association so I could really tell that computer what I thought of it?!]

Just kidding!!!   🙂

Mostly I prayed for Patience.  It wasn’t until later that I remembered Your favorite strategy for patience building.

“Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”  (James 1:2-4)

By Your grace, Lord, I got most of what I prayed for.  I remained patient and gracious.  It may be a stretch, but I’m chalking this up to a “minor” miracle.  (Is there such a thing???)

I guess Perseverance finished its work… at least in one way.  I learned I am not lacking for agility or flexibility.  I even found some muscles I didn’t realize I had.  I expect to be hearing more from them in the next day or two, when the “pure joy” of the whole experience wears off.   🙂

The only thing I seem to be lacking is a solution to my tech problem.  Despite the best efforts of my tech guru.

This is where You “doubled down” on the patience lesson, Lord… by adding a dose of contentment.

“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want, whether my high tech gadgets are all working or not…”

Wait a minute… What Bible translation is that???   🙂

“… I can do all this through [Christ] who gives me strength.”  (Philippians 4:11-13)

Maybe it all gets back the difference between what I want and what I really need.  The technology gadget failing me is a nice-to-have, at best.  But You, Lord?

You are the air I breathe!  My Bread of Life and the Living Water that quenches my soul thirst.  You are my Hope and my ever-present Help.  My Strength and my Song.  You are everything I need… and You will never fail me!

“Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  (Joshua 1:9)

Guess I’ll go read a book, Lord.  The Book.  Thank You for the millionth time that I have eyes to see… and so much more!!!
