Today’s Seeds… Tomorrow’s Harvest?

It’s happening right now… isn’t it, Lord? The God-encounter for this Son-day’s post.

I had been praying since I first woke up this morning, “What do You want me to write about today, Lord? What encounter have we had this past week that could give others Hope?”

I remember the fleeting thought that flew through my brain when I finished that prayer. Perhaps it will even happen today

And so it has… at 3:33 in the afternoon. That’s the time my laptop marked when I “woke” it up to log on. My favorite Three — Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Not once, but three times. For emphasis.

The Encounter is simple enough. The reading of a book — my book, Victory in The Valley. On the shore of a lake — our lake. On a warm, Florida afternoon. A sunny (Son-ny?) afternoon.

It isn’t a life-changing or world-shattering event. But it could be… couldn’t it, Lord?

The words You gave me in the writing of that book describe events that were life-changing and world-shattering for me. Like Your Words always are, Abba, whenever You speak them to me — whether in shouts or whispers.

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My Word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”  (Isaiah 55:10-11)

The reader is the dear friend of a dear friend. Both winter visitors. Both dearly loved by You, Lord… though I gather they are only beginning to discover this wonder-full Truth.

One read my book a couple of weeks ago. In one afternoon. Said she “couldn’t put it down.” Then, she couldn’t wait to come and find me. To hug me and tell me she loves me. She was moved to the core.

Not by me, Lord… it was You. She just doesn’t know yet how to put that Truth into words.

She gave my book to her dear friend, visiting from far away. She’s out there now… book wide open, sitting in the shade.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'”  (Psalm 91:1-2)

You wanted me to know… didn’t You, Lord? Who else could have perfectly timed my glance out the window… and my arrival at my laptop at precisely 3:33?

I knew instantly why. So I could pray for her, even now. Hoping and trusting that the words she is reading even now  — Your Words and mine — will help her draw closer closer to You.

“No one is like You, Lord; You are great, and Your name is mighty in power.” (Jeremiah 10:6)

Awestruck,

Abba’s Girl
