As business leaders in our culture, we often look to books, tools and/or training for empowerment. Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Essentials for Leadership Success. Step-by-step formulas that promise exceptional corporate results.
But how do we become empowered for exceptional Kingdom results? For today… when faith-based hostility is on the rise in our post-Christian culture? And for tomorrow… when such hostility, as Scripture promises, blossoms into full-blown persecution?
Last week, we sought answers from persecuted Christians. http://championsofdestiny.com/jesus-visits-death-row/. Here is another power-full example from Voice of the Martyrs:
“Her husband… leader of a house church [in an Islamic country]… simply disappeared. For… months, [she] had no idea where he was. The authorities… filed no charges… [didn’t] allow [him] to see a lawyer or his family… wouldn’t even admit they were holding him…
“… her husband was strong… his faith would endure even if he were tortured… But [she feared] she wasn’t… strong. ‘Dear God, please don’t [let] them… find me.’… [They did find her]… and took her to… jail… The interrogator… looked very angry. ‘Why did you evangelize?… Why do you talk about Jesus to Muslims?… Don’t you know… it is illegal?’… [She said] ‘Dear God… Lord”… and suddenly felt God’s presence and peace.
“[She answered]: ‘You know what? I have a right to evangelize… I’m happy… I’m evangelizing… This is a commandment from Jesus Christ. Everyone needs to hear this Good News… God sent me here to tell you about Jesus. You are a poor man. I feel bad for you. You don’t have peace… joy… hope…. The only way to the truth is Jesus Christ…. one day you [will] stand before [Him].. without Him, there is no hope for you.’
“The interrogator was shocked by her [boldness]… ‘Your punishment just increased…’ [In her cell…] she decided [to] apologize… take it all back… [The next three nights] she entered… interrogation… [intending to] apologize… each night she… felt the Holy Spirit’s guidance… and boldly proclaimed the gospel.
“[Later that third night], the interrogator knocked on her cell door… She was terrified… He said, ‘Don’t worry, I will not harm you… Did you know you are an angel of God?… [that] God sent you here at this… time in my life?… How did you know… my life is so… messed up? When you were talking [during] interrogation, that wasn’t really you. I saw myself in God’s presence. Please help me to be saved…
“[He was saved!] He ordered the [couple’s] release… on the secret condition… they… meet privately to disciple him… he even gave them advice on how [to] evangelize more safely.” https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1900185693543152&id=1789662181262171
There is only one Unstoppable Voice — the Voice of the Lord’s Holy Spirit. He teaches us what to say in every moment of opportunity, even in the face of imminent death. He emboldens us with supernatural courage to deliver His Word, at times when impact for Him seems impossible.
How can we more fully embrace such Holy Spirit POWER in our own marketplace trials?
