The Ultimate “Energizer”!

You “blew my mind” twice yesterday, Lord!

The second time was last night, when You posted my blog to this website.  I was out of cell phone range, at a friend’s house 2.5 hours away.  I typed my brief post anyway, into the only technology available to me — my cell phone.  I hit the icon for “Post” even knowing I was out of cell phone range.  The phone went into an endless loop of searching, searching, searching for a signal.  I finally turned it off, concluding:  “Oh well…”

I guess I was hoping against hope.

“Hoping” against Hope?  What kind of self-fulfilling prophecy is that???

“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”  (Matthew 12:25)

You are my Hope, Lord.  You are the Hope of the World.  I could hardly believe it today when I discovered that the post I made last night — from my cell phone while I was out of cell phone range — was actually published!

You wouldn’t let my doubt get the best of me.  You already have the best of me, Lord.  You are The Best of me!

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”  (Romans 8:31b)

So, what are You trying to say to me, Lord, by doing The Impossible through my cell phone last night???

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  (Matthew 19:26)

Maybe it was Your way of making me take notice of the other “impossible” thing that happened earlier in the day at church.  Due to our busy travel day yesterday, I decided to go to a different church.  They had an 8:30 AM service.  A small Baptist church out in the country.  Partway through the pastor’s sermon, he said the gifts of Your Holy Spirit were all alive and well in our day.  He said nothing in Your Word indicates they ever died out.

A Baptist church???

That wasn’t all.  His benediction was unlike any I ever expected to hear in a Baptist church.  Unlike any I have heard in any church.  A benediction I have only “heard” through Your Words, Lord, as quoted in the Bible.  This was the benediction spoken by the pastor yesterday over his Baptist congregation:

“Prophesy.  Speak in tongues.  Heal the sick.  Raise the dead.  Drive out demons.  Preach the Good News… in Jesus’ name.”  (Matthew 10:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20; 1 Corinthians 14:39)

Did I hear him right?  Words he spoke as matter-of-factly as if he was saying “Have a nice day”???

My first thought was something Dorothy said long ago in “The Wizard of Oz”:  “We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto!”  No, we aren’t.  We are not in any Fantasyland… are we, Lord?  We are on Planet Earth, living through the most thrilling time in all of History!  The Time You foretold long ago.  The Time when Your Return is closer than ever before.  The Time when nothing will stop Your Plans from coming to fruition.

Not the lack of a cell phone signal.  🙂  Not our doubts.  Not even the truth about our weaknesses.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”  (2 Corinthians 12:9)

“… if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.”  (Romans 8:11)

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”  (Luke 10:9)

Are we willing to take You at Your Word, Lord?  Am I willing?  To step out in faith, in whatever way(s) You direct, trusting You to do what would otherwise be impossible for me?  Because You, Lord, are the Almighty God — the One who dwarfs the Energizer Bunny, even if his energy is multiplied by infinity???

Oh, Lord… By Your Grace, let my only answer to You be “YES!!!”

Safe (and energized and empowered) in Your grip,

Abba’s Girl
