The Rest of The Story – Part 1

A radio broadcaster made that line famous when he told compelling true stories about people’s lives.  He would give a “teaser” to engage the curiosity of the listener, and then tell “the rest of the story.”

You have the most compelling True Story of all, Lord.  And You are no “teaser.”  You have had Your Story written down for all the world to see.  And Your Story — the Bible — is the #1 Bestseller of all time.

Your Story began in ages past.  And Your Story ends… well, actually, it never ends.  Because the Life You came to give is not only abundant, it is eternal.

“Now this is eternal life:  that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”  (John 17:3)

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one will snatch them out of My hand.”  (John 10:28)

You give only some hints about how the “forever part” of Your Story will play out in Heaven.  Is that the “teaser” that engages the curiosity — the expectant anticipation — of Your people, Lord?

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.”  (1 Corinthians 2:9)

But You are very clear about The Rest of The Story on Earth, Lord.  There are some bad times coming, unlike any the world has ever known.  So bad, at one point, You will cut those days short for our sake.

“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.”  (Matthew 24:22)

Why did You move me to such thoughts this morning, Lord?  Maybe the “how” is just as important as the “why.”

When I first woke up, the words in my mind as I thought of You were “The Wonder of It All.” Certainly, Lord, You are Wonder-FULL!  I searched my iPhone music for a song with the word “wonder” in its title, in the hope of singing that message to You.

The closest one I found was, “Wonderful, Merciful Savior.”  I touched the title to play the song.  But a different song began to play.  “Where You Begin,” by Mandisa.

I hadn’t inadvertently touched the wrong title.  I tried again three times, with the same result.  Suddenly I realized it was no technical snafu.  It was a Divine orchestration.  So I followed where You had led me…

“I give you all my weakness, You give me Your Strength… ‘Cause I’m here again, here at my end, where You begin… I’ve seen Redemption come in and save the day, so I don’t have to be afraid… You make all things new, so I will trust in You…”

Why did You move me to such thoughts this morning, Lord?  And why was the how just as important as the “why”?

Must I “tune in” tomorrow for The Rest of The Story?

Maybe You’re a bit of a “tease” after all… 🙂

With grateful anticipation,

Abba’s Girl
