There are many others. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Each one is so familiar. One person starts to say them and another finishes.
Therein lies the problem.
Familiarity doesn’t always breed contempt. Sometimes it breeds indifference. Or complacency. We say the words but no longer hear them beyond our ears. We need to hear them with our souls — our mind, emotions and will.
Where their meaning really comes to life.
So it is with today’s Kingdom POWER Truism: It isn’t what you know, it’s who you know.
Familiar to anyone ever climbing a career-impacting ladder. Depending on the success achieved, this Truism wavers between empowerment strategy or excuse.
What we know matters. But isn’t there also always a who? Someone opening or closing doors? Being an ally or adversary? Building up or tearing down? Collaborating or competing?
Does this Truisim apply most to Kingdom POWER? Which, by nature, is found only in Who we know?
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart… soul… mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
“… apart from Me, you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
“… with God, all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
Any questions?
There wouldn’t be. Except there’s another “who” we must know intimately, if we are to embody these truths as Kingdom leaders entrusted with the divine calling to love and lead people to Christ.
Who is it? NOT the Adversary!
Yes, he is relentless in pursuing his only agenda — steal, kill and destroy. Anything and anyone honoring and serving God. He cannot directly assault The Almighty, so he settles for (sets his sights on) His children. The Family of believers.
So, there’s another “who” much more vital for us to know than the enemy of our souls. Who?
Look in the mirror.
Who do you really see? Do you see, by failure, one who is not (and never could be) enough? Or do you see, by faith, one who embodies (and is becoming) the fulfillment of God’s every promise?
“… to all who received Him… [who] believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
“… if we are children… we are…heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” (Romans 3:17)
“His divine power has given us everything we need…” (2 Peter: 1:3-11)
The Power of KNOW. Knowing the Lord. And knowing who we are — in Him, by Him, for Him. When we know these two as God intends… who or what can ever stop us?
