The God Who Sends Emails

I hadn’t even thought of my fleece yet.

The fleece I would put out to ask if that “leading” I sensed yesterday was really from You, Lord.  I had only just lifted the question to you:  “Was that really You, Lord?”

One hour later, I felt led to open my business email.  Wow… You don’t waste any time!

My eyes fell on a new email.  Brand new, received just moments before.  An item whose subject line expressed the very fear in my heart when that “20 by 2020” goal took shape just yesterday.

So I opened the email.

It was from someone I have never met.  Someone with whom I have never spoken.  Or was it really from You, Lord?

There, in black and white, were the questions that had been swirling in my mind since I contemplated that “20 by 2020” goal!

Who do I think I’m kidding?  Can I really do this?

Then, a joke… with a lot of meaning.

Question:  “What do you call the person who graduates last in the class from medical school?”

Answer:  “Doctor.”

Then, the words of encouragement I needed… to take the very next step.

“Work on yourself to build your confidence… There are people out there who need your help, and not believing in yourself will affect the difference you can make in the world.  You don’t have to be the ‘best in the world’ to make a difference.  You just have to put yourself out there, and share what’s possible with the people you’re meant to serve.'”

I don’t know if the person who sent this email knows You, Lord.  Her focus seems to be on the “self” when I know the real focus needs to be You.  And the “me” You have created me to be.  The “me” You will empower me to be.

So all I ultimately become and do can give You glory and pleasure.  Even as You bless me abundantlybecause You love me!

You have said all of this — and more — in so many ways… haven’t You, Lord?  Maybe that’s why I knew it was a nudge from You.  To let go of my doubts and fears… and be willing to follow wherever You are leading.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”  (Ephesians 4:29)

Even my self-talks… right, Lord?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”  (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Trusting You… the God who sends emails even before fleeces are laid out.

If You do all this in just one hour, Lord, what will You do between now and 2020???

Expectantly,

Abba’s Girl
