The Answer is Blowin’ in the Wind!

I was not in a boat today, nor was I in a storm.  But I felt a little like Your disciples must have felt the time You joined them in their boat and rescued them from a storm.

“What kind of Man is this?  Even the winds and the waves obey Him!”  (Matthew 8:25)

I was sitting at a picnic table next to Lake Jackson.  A cloudless, beautiful Florida day.  No more than a pleasant, occasional breeze stirring the warm summer-like air…

until we prayed, and the very atmosphere around us changed.

Was it the nature of the prayers being lifted to You at the time, Lord, that caused You to use Nature to communicate with us? Prayers of thanksgiving and praise for how You are awakening us to New Life, moving mightily in our lives?  Prayers of adoration, expressing our passionate love for You?  Prayers of petition, from those of us who want nothing more — and nothing less — than greater intimacy with You?

You knew the prayers were heartfelt, Lord.  Authentic.  Filled with both longing and the certainty that only You can satisfy that longing.  Suddenly, I became keenly aware of not only the words being spoken but the very atmosphere around us.

The wind around us had begun to blow... hard!  It lasted only the duration of the prayers… then it stopped.  Clearly, You were connecting the movement of the wind to the heart desires beneath those prayers.  Saying something to us, Lord… but what?

 Two passages came immediately to mind:

1.  When Your disciples gathered behind closed and locked doors, where most of them saw You for the first time after Your resurrection.  They were afraid of the Jewish leaders, but overjoyed when they saw You.  You breathed on them and said:  “Receive the Holy Spirit.”  (John 20:22)

2.  When You gave Life to Adam, the very first person You created:  “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into His nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”  (Genesis 2:7)

Was that what You were doing today, Lord?  Breathing the very Breath of Life into Your daughters as we shared our hearts with You, releasing yet another measure of Your Holy Spirit into us… for such a time as this???  All I know for sure is this:  It was another one of those goose bump moments!jn0-643 dumps  A supernatural encounter!

Oh, Lord… Give us knowledge and understanding!!!

“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”  (Ephesians 3:16-19)
