The Air I Breathe

Not ozone-filled sky-high air, whose self-perpetuating rainstorms are turning our vegetable-garden-to-be into a mud pit.

Not exhaust-filled earthbound air that, in this rural paradise, is merely a distant memory from city-days-gone-by.

Not oxygen-thin mountaintop air that produces gasps where spectacular beauty and laboring lungs meet.

No.  The air I breathe today is Rare… and Abundant.  Here… and Everywhere.  Steady… and Surprising.  Free… and Priceless.  Like the praise song sings so beautifully…

You, Lord, are The Air I Breathe.

I have been in Your Presence.  Your Love-drenching, Life-giving Presence.

On my knees.  On my feet.  On my face.  Mind-to-mind.  Heart-to-heart.  Spirit-to-spirit.

Student to Teacher.  Subject to King.  Servant to Lord.  Friend to Friend.  Sheep to Shepherd.  Lover to Lover.  Bride to Groom.  Daughter to Daddy.

Breathing You in with lungs too small.  Longing for more.

Forever Breathless… yet Breath-filled.  How can it be?

“‘Peace be with you!  As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.’ And with that, He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.'”  (John 20:21-23)

An Enigma… wrapped in Mystery.

A Discovery… wrapped in Adventure.

A Longing… wrapped in Satisfaction.

A Dream… wrapped in Reality.

A Good Work… wrapped in Destiny.

Light… wrapped in Light.  Multiplied by Light.  Pulsating with Light.

“I am the Light of the World.  Whoever believes in Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.”  (John 8:12)

“You, Lord, are my Lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into Light.”  (2 Samuel 22:29)

Lighting The Way.  Leading The Way.  Breathing The Way.

Filling my lungs,

Abba’s Girl
