T Minus One… & Counting!

Twas the night before Christmas…

… and all through the house…

EVERY creature was stirring… Including a mouse!

Creatures seem to be assembling in our house, Lord.

We have tiny little “sugar” ants.  I can’t say I consider them as particularly sweet, however. The good news is, they’re so tiny they can’t possibly eat much.   🙂   The bad news is they’re like grains of sand… too many to count.   🙁

And in the last few days, I have heard some critters in the walls and ceiling.  Mice, no doubt… or possibly, fruit rats.

How did they manage to get in there, Lord?

You’d better warn them.  If they show their heads inside the house, I can promise them a welcome, all right.  Her name is Skippy!  And she loves almost any kind of critter smaller than her.  For breakfast, lunch or dinner.   🙂

Maybe it’s the full moon.  Even Skippy is on alert… as if watching for something.

Was it like that 2,000+ years ago, Lord?

People all over the planet will see the full moon tonight. Whenever their night is, given the earth’s rotation.  I guess the same was also true on that fateful night so long ago when that one-of-a-kind star rose in the night sky.

Your star, Lord.

Surely that celestial phenomenon was way more impressive than a full moon.  I imagine lots of people were “wowed” by it. Thinking it was “cool” or “awesome.”  Assuming it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Indeed!

But those who knew its meaning — those You had prepared beforehand — changed the course of their lives to be eyewitnesses.

“Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews?  We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.”  (Matthew 2:2)

When the Magi (wise men) arrived at the manger, did they even notice the other eyewitnesses, Lord?  Surely their eyes were all on You, Jesus.  But so were others‘ eyes.

The critters You had assembled.  I have a feeling they sensed Something Very Special was occurring, too.

Tomorrow is Christmas!  And our eyes — the “eyes” of our spirits — will all be on You, Lord. Maybe our critters — the ants and the rats — will sense Something Very Special, too.

Because You, Lord, are as alive Today as You were back then in Bethlehem.

Actually, even more so!

OK, Lord… the critters can stay.  At least through tomorrow.   🙂

“How many are Your works, Lord!  In wisdom You made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures… when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.”  (Psalm 104:24,28b)

Nestled all snug in my bed…

Waiting for Tomorrow’s Sonrise…
