Squishing From Hydrotherapy!

Ahhhh… We just got the hot tub up and running again after being away from it for five months!

As you know, Lord, our motivation for getting it was strictly therapeutic.  I had, by Your Grace, survived a spectacular auto accident back in 1987.  An accident that could have — and would have — killed us… had it not been for Your intervening hand.

I am eternally grateful for Your mercy that day, Lord!  Because it was just two months after that accident that I opened my heart and life to You for the very first time!  You revealed Yourself to me back then in very personal ways that proved to be both unmistakable and irresistible.

And You have been doing so ever since!   🙂

The accident left me with some persistent reminders of how fragile and precious Life is.  Mostly the aftermath of ripped muscles and tendons in my shoulder and neck.  A favorite “hangout” for knots that sometimes feel like piercing knives.

I had grown accustomed to these pains, which would “wax” and “wane” for no particular reason.  Pains that sometimes became daily (and nightly) visitors that overstayed their welcome for months at a time.  I often said if I was independently wealthy (which I am not), I would get a deep tissue massage from a licensed massage therapist every day.

But then, my husband surprised me.  Maybe he got tired of the countless times I asked him to share his amateur massage skills when my shoulder ached to the point of tears.  More likely, he just wanted to bless me in a way he knew would really help me.

So we got the hot tub.  Something I never dreamed I would ever have.  It sits out back in our screened-in patio area.  And it feels wonderful!  I came inside tonight, “squishing” from my latest dose of Hydrotherapy.

In more ways than one!

You’ve been making me squish on the inside too, Lord.  With Your own special brand of Hydrotherapy… from the inside out!

“Blessed is the one… whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night.  That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.”  (Psalm 1:1a,2-3)

“Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink.  Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of Living Water will flow from within them.’  By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive.”  (John 7:37-39a)

“It is done!  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.  To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the Water of Life.”  (Revelation 21:6)

I soaked in that hot water for 15 minutes tonight and felt relaxed and refreshed.  I can certainly live without it.  I did for many years.  But it sure is a nice blessing, Lord!

But I have learned I cannot live without Your Water, Lord.  When I soak in Your Living Water — for several hours — I feel energized and empowered.  The more I have of it, the more I want… and the more I realize my need.

“If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”  (John 15:5)

Oh, Abba… How I LOVE Hydrotherapy and its many blessings!!!

Squishing as I snuggle into Your everlasting arms tonight…

Abba’s Girl
