So Saith the Lord!

A question came by way of urgent text this morning.  A question with an unexpected invitation: Would I be at our prayer meeting this morning?  If so, could I lead?

I wasn’t showered yet, but I was planning to go.  So I texted back, “Yes.”  We were to start in 90 minutes.  I could get my body ready in time, but my spirit?

I did the only thing I knew to do:

“Lord, how do You want to lead us today?”

You had already planned our agenda… hadn’t You, Lord?  How else would You have answered me so quickly?

“Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?  But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed.  Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.  But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect”  (1 Peter 3:13-16)

Within minutes, Lord, You led me to scriptures and songs.  All about HOPE and VICTORY! Because You, Lord, are the HOPE of the World!  Because You are VICTORIOUS over sin and death!  So You said:

“Give voice to your HOPE in Me… and My VICTORY in everything I lead you to pray today.”

And we did.  We read and prayed boldly into Your Words… knowing that, even as we prayed, You were moving mountains!  So I repeat the Words You used to provoke our prayers.

Let these Words provoke prayers around the world, Lord, in the hearts and on the lips of those who read them here.  May they, too, give voice to their HOPE in You and Your VICTORY in all that You move them to pray today!

“Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak… those who HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles…”  (Isaiah 40:28-29,31)

“Never be lacking in zeal but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in HOPE, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”  (Romans 12:11-12)

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for The Blessed HOPE — the appearing of… our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…”  (Titus 2:11-13)

“We have this HOPE as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”  (Hebrews 6:19)

“Now faith is confidence in what we HOPE for and assurance about what we do not see.”  (Hebrews 11:1)

HOPING in You, Lord, with certainty

… that Your Spirit will empower us

… to pray boldly — to live boldly — advancing Your Kingdom...
