Slowly… But Surely!

For the first time ever, we went over our data limit for our satellite Internet.  Burning through 15 GB like a wildfire out of control.

Come to think of it, maybe that’s a good description of a houseful of grandkids — A Wildfire Out of Control!   🙂

We’ve had a wonderful time, Lord!  AND (not “but”) we’ve also entered into the Data Wilderness.  Meaning, our Internet access still works, but very slowly.

Slowly… but surely.  Eventually.

Isn’t that how it usually goes, Lord, when we reach out to others as we fulfill Your Grand Assignment to us?

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…  We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf:  Be reconciled to God.”  (2 Corinthians 5:18,20)

There are times when what we say ushers in a harvest.  And we are, like… WOW!  Yet it seems to me there are many more times when we look for opportunities to…

… till the soil in a hardened heart…

… or plant eternal seeds…

… or water and fertilize those seeds.

Sometimes we have only one “shot” at this kind of “farming.”  Sometimes, by Your grace, we do it over and over again in the lives of those we know and love.  Maybe daily.  Maybe only once in a great while… with each opportunity separated by years.

Not seeing any result.  Not knowing if our efforts are making any difference.

Today, Lord, You reminded me that anything and everything we do in obedience to You matters!

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow… The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.  For we are co-workers in God’s service…”  (1 Corinthians 3:6-9)

In recent days, You have given me such HOPE!  Because You showed me that my “once in a great while” opportunities in the lives of certain loved ones are paying off… as hearts that were once far from You are drawing closer.

Not much in Life happens fast and furious… does it, Lord?  After all, some meals are better cooked in a crock pot than a microwave.  And a watched pot never boils.  But eventually, when heat is applied over time, the water starts bubbling.

It’s inevitable… isn’t it, Lord?

My prayers — and my “once in a great while” interventions — have “lit” a spiritual “fire” under some who are dear to me.  Clearly, the bubbles are on their way!   🙂

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God:  that if we ask anything according to His Will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of Him.”  (1 John 5:14-15)

Oh-so-gratefully,

Abba’s Ambassador Girl
