Showers of Revelation

Why is the shower such a place of revelation, Lord?

Are there “pores” in the mind that somehow become unclogged, even as the body’s pores are scrubbed clean?  Are there moments, of Your choosing, when You actually change our deep well water into Living Water out of Your well that is deeper still? It’s a mystery.  All I know is, this morning I had a dramatic moment of clarity.

I met a woman in Savannah a few weeks ago.  We made a clear connection, spirit to spirit.  We both knew it was one of those “divine appointments” You wanted us to nurture into the future.200-101 vce  We shared a wonderful follow-up phone call last week, mostly so I could learn more about the business that is her passion, in the hope that I could refer potential clients to her.

Partway through our conversation, she said something I knew immediately was significant.  I didn’t know at the time just how significant.  I didn’t know until this morning, when a spiritual “lightning bolt” hit me in the shower.

She is in the health business and is passionate about helping people take care of their bodies.  She knows You share (and have a vested interest in) that passion.

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells within you?”  (1 Corinthians 3:16)

She said she has a friend who has “amazing insight” about the body-spirit connection, and the spiritual roots of various illnesses. Then she said that Significant Something.  She gave an example of that body-mind connection, almost as an afterthought.  She said, “For example, breast cancer in the left breast is related to unforgiveness.”

I know, Lord.  You taught me a long time ago that there are no coincidences.  She could have mentioned any other illness, or even any other kind of cancer.  But she didn’t.

She knew nothing of my background — my history of sexual abuse, or the outward and inward hatred that had plagued me for 33 years… before You, Lord, took me on a miraculous journey of Healing.  She knew nothing about my history of abortion, or the inward condemnation that plagued me for 26 years… before You, Lord, took me on another miraculous journey of Healing.  She knew nothing about my journey through the Valley of the Shadow of breast cancer, or the large tumor in my left breast… before You, Lord, took me on yet another miraculous journey of Healing.200-310 pdf

I certainly can’t say if this is relevant to anyone other than me, Lord.  I just know that, this morning, You were pointing out something that is greatly relevant to me.

Cancer in my left breast… right over my heart.  A heart that had been filled for so long with another kind of “cancer” —

Unforgiveness.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”  (Proverbs 4:23)

So, is the opposite also true, Lord?  Unguarded, our hearts can be a wellspring of death?

I have long said, “There are choices and consequences.”  You designed us with free will, Lord, and You honor our ability to choose… even when the choices we make grieve You deeply.  Because they hurt not only You, but those You love.  And You paid the highest possible price to make Your complete forgiveness freely available to all who would accept it from You.  Even so, as amazing and wonderful as all of that is, You do not always remove the consequences of our bad choices.

The “what” or the “how” of this is beyond my understanding, Lord… at least for now.  But two things I am certain of — certain because You have proven them to me, time and time again.

Certainty #1:  No matter how bad our past choices may have been — or the past choices of others who may have harmed us — You are faithful and able to bring GOOD out of every single experience in Your children’s lives!!!

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”  (Romans 8:28)

Certainty #2:  You always REDEEM our choices (AND their consequences) in ways that manifest Your matchless glory, bring forth Your priceless plans… and bless our socks off!   🙂

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”  (Genesis 50:20)

Joyfully healed and joyfully healing
