Short and Sweet…

I was fine until right before dinner, Lord.

It had been a beautiful day, in every way…

The rain… much needed!

The opportunity to meet some wonderful businesswomen at my first networking group here in Virginia.  Even some “divine appointments” You made clear to me.  I can hardly wait to see what You have planned!

The penetratng discussion with those in my business coaching club.  Penetrating because of its focus on core beliefs — those that might be hindering us, particular with regard to how we view money.  Your loving invitations to surrender to You so You can change us for the better — from the inside out.

The six-foot wooden stakes we drove into the ground and strung with fishing wire — a homemade trellis waiting for our newly-sprouted bean plants to grab hold so they can climb tall.

Our laughter as Skippy raced wildly through the back and side yards, plowing right through our new vegetable garden in an obvious display of unbridled joy!  Was it the cooler temperatures coming in on the heels of the rain?  Or the thrill of being outside, helping her Mommy-cat and Daddy-cat?  Or maybe it was her hunting prowess, evidenced the mostly-eaten, not clearly-identifiable animal remains we found in the back yard?  (Yikes!)

Yes, a beautiful day, in every way… except, of course, for that unidentified aninmal.  Oh well.

That’s when it happened.  We were walking back up our half-mile-long driveway after retrieving the mail, when BAM!  I twisted my ankle on the uneven surface.  After limping in a fair amount of pain for awhile, the trauma seemed to pass.  I was fine through dinner prep — even standing there concocting homemade cornbread to go with our freshly caught river catfish.  A delicious feast!

Now, however, my ankle is throbbing.  So I’m going to retire to take some aspirin and elevate my foot with ice.

Short and sweet.  Nothing profound, Dad.  I just wanted to thank You for this beautiful day.  Mostly, I guess, I want to crawl into Your lap, so You can hold me… and whisper Your sweet assurances into my ears… and rock me to sleep.

Everything is more than OK whenever I am in Your arms.

“Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy.  The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.  My heart leaps for joy [even if my body can’t] and with my song I praise Him.”  (Psalm 28:6-7)
