Running on Empty

Today, my Inspiration reached its Expiration.

I feel like a bicycle tire plagued with a long, slow leak.  The lack of air had me pumping my pedals harder and harder until I couldn’t go any farther.

It’s hard to get anywhere on a flat tire.

The leak started last night, when I fell asleep in front of the TV.  Watching some mindless show.  Watching my mind go.

The leak continued this morning when I got up late.  Too little sleep.  Not enough Rest.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  (Matthew 11:28)

I skipped breakfast.  Worse still, I skipped You, Lord.  Not totally, but more “fast food” than a banquet.  How could I even think I could survive the day without real NOURISHMENT?

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.  Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?  Listen, listen to Me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.”  (Isaiah 55:1-2)

Yes, Lord… I’m overdue for Your Feast.  But first… for Your Rest.

Empty, in need of Your filling…
