Rise and Shine!

I “thought” my heart to You today, Lord.

“Abba, I love You!”

These were the first words in my heart as I lay in the predawn darkness this morning. What a mouthful!  But my heart’s desire was for something more.

“May I crawl into Your lap, Abba?  May I cuddle with You?  I want to feel Your strong arms around me as You rock me.  I want to feel You stroking my hair as You tell me, ‘Everything will be all right.'”

So I did.  And You did.

[Deep sigh.]

Sometime later, a song “popped” into my head.  I love it when I can also call You “Pops”!   🙂

The song was “Firm Foundation,” sung by John Chisum.  “Jesus, You’re my Firm Foundation.  I know I can stand secure.”  And I sang my heart out to You.

“Of this, I’m sure.”

The song had no sooner ended when, suddenly, a picture “popped” into my mind.  A picture that hangs over our copy machine in our home office.  A picture I look at every day.

In the picture, I “saw” my heart for You.

A man is standing calmly in the doorway of a lighthouse.  The lighthouse is being pummeled by ocean waves so huge, it would surely be swept away… except for its Firm Foundation.  Its caption says it all:

“The Lord has become my Fortress, and My God the Rock in whom I take refuge.”  (Psalm 94:22)

So I went to Psalm 94… and I spoke my heart to You.

Like the Psalmist, I have cried out to You when my foot was slipping.  And Your Unfailing Love supported me.  When I was filled with anxiety, Your Consolation brought me joy.

And like the Psalmist, had You not helped me, I would surely have died.  I almost did. Several times.  But for You, Lord.

My eyes just “happened to” fall on the previous page in my Bible.  Hmm… on these particular words???   !!!

“The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.  Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea — the Lord on high is mighty.”  (Psalm 93:3-4)

And You are not just “the” Mighty Lord… You are my Mighty Lord.

My Lighthouse.

My Rock.

My Firm Foundation.

My Refuge.

My Abba.

The One who has awakened me to this New Day.

So I may rise and shine with the sun?

So I may Rise and Shine with The Son.

And all this… because I just wanted to crawl into Your lap this morning?

You’re so sweet to me.  Is it any wonder I love You so?
