I had my eyes closed.
I was communing with You, Lord.
“If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in…” (Revelation 3:20)
Hallowing Your name.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.” (Matthew 6:9)
Expressing my love to You.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
Thanking You… for so much.
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.” (Psalm 100:4)
Presenting my requests to You.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
Acknowledging the armor You made for me. Armor I never take off. Armor infused with Your Power… so I can STAND.
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes… so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:11,13)
Welcoming this New Day You have made.
“This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:2)
I opened my eyes.
I was still in bed, preparing myself for this New Day before my feet hit the floor.
The first thing I saw was a “V” hanging upside down, as if from Heaven!
I knew it was the handle of our ceiling fan outside on our porch. Yet I also knew it was a sign from You, Lord. How could it be anything else?
Had I been positioned anywhere else on the bed, or had my head been facing any other direction, I would not have seen it at all.
But I did see it… immediately after this extended, empowering time of prayer. Prayer acknowledging the battles ahead today. Prayer proclaiming Your Victory, even before those battles begin!
You made sure I would see that “V” hanging down from Heaven. Hanging from Your strong Hand. The Hand that will ensure my Victory.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
And there’s more.
When I first saw the “V,” I saw the sky behind it, too. Rain clouds and clear skies. I saw nearby tree limbs — moving and still, as the wind blew and then grew calm.
Not unlike Life… right, Lord?
Storms and Sun. Lightning and Rainbows. Wails and Whispers. Hurricanes and Healing. Soakings and Serenity. And Your heavenly “V” is always there. Hanging down from Your Hand. Within our reach.
Ready to pull us UP.
Even, I realized, hours earlier. In the dark of night when, if I had opened my eyes, I would not have seen it. But even though I couldn’t see it, it was still there… with all of its power.
“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
More evidence, Lord, that You go to such great lengths to help each of us “see” and “hear” You every day… in very real and personal ways!
You are teaching me so much about the importance of my choices every day. Will I reduce the noise and distractions in my life, so I really can open my ears and eyes to You?
Yes indeed, Lord! Today is the day You have made! I will rejoice and be glad in it!
