Powerful Attraction!

One day they weren’t here.  The next day, we were inundated.

Japanese Beetles.  Swarming over our tender pole bean leaves.  Turning them into delicate lace petals rather than the robust chlorophyll producers they are meant to be.

Enter the Japanese Beetle Trap.

The good news is… this trap does a GREAT job of attracting Japanese Beetles.  The bad news is… this trap attracts every single beetle in the entire county in which it is located!

OK… maybe that’s a slight exaggeration.  But imagine The Year of the Locust… super-sized!

I got to thinking…  A dangerous thing, sometimes?!  🙂

What if someone invented some kind of spiritual “trap,” Lord?  Some powerful “Calling All Sinners” attraction that would draw people from near and far, taking care of their “sin infestation” once-and-for-all?

Wait a minute… No one “invented” it, Lord.  You became it!

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom and healing every disease.  When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them…”   (Matthew 9:35-36)

“… the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”  (Matthew 20:28)

Live beetles are drawn to our trap… and they die.  Without You, Lord, we’re all like the Walking Dead.  But when we are drawn to You… we LIVE!

So many beetles!  We can’t possibly draw them all!   🙂

So many people!  We can’t possibly draw them all!   🙁

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.”  (Matthew 9:37-38)

Who will You send, Lord???

“Then Jesus came to them [me] and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… baptizing them… and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  (Matthew 28:18-20a)

So many people!  How can we [I] possibly make a difference, Lord???

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:20b)

Thankfully, Lord, You are more than enough!
