One Price Fits All

We were on the phone, calling to make a future hotel reservation.  At one of our favorite stopovers.  Nothing fancy, just convenient… and pet friendly.

🙂

We were about to book our reservation when we asked what we thought was a straightforward question: “How much is the room?”  Our mouths dropped open in shock.  A 50% increase in price since our last stay there?!  Just 90 days ago?!

When we got our voices back, we asked when the price had gone up.  She said, “Our prices change every day.”  Every day???  Isn’t that a bit extreme?

She said it would be cheaper to book at their website.  So we both got online.  Two different computers, checking the same hotel website.  Each one showing a different price for the same room!

One was cheaper than what she quoted… by $13.00. The other price was actually… higher. Really???

🙁

It reminded me of the airlines.  How much is a plane ticket?  It depends on who you talk to, on which day, at what time.  With so many moving targets, how can we ever hope to avoid that nagging suspicion that we’re getting ripped off?

It got me thinking, Lord.  There are a lot of “moving targets” to another question that is far more important than the cost of one night’s lodging.  Maybe because it’s the cost of lodging for all of eternity.

“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  (Acts 16:30)

In most religions, the answer is “It depends.”

On how many times we committed which kinds of sins.  And how many good deeds and/or prayers we would need to put forth to counteract our negative baggage.

Or how many “lifetimes” we would have to live, coming back as whatever creatures might be warranted to work out the negative karma we are racking up in our present existence.

Which future bug’s life might make up for which of our present bad choices?  And what if we get stepped on before paying off our karma debt?  And how much is ever enough?

No one knows.  No one can ever be sure.  Except where You are concerned, Lord.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.”  (Acts 16:31).

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  (Romans 10:13)

No Bait and Switch.  No Hidden Charges.  All Sales Final.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”  (Mark 10:45)

One Price Fits All.  All who say “Yes” to You, Lord.

If You gave us what we truly deserve, we would spend eternity apart from You.  Thankfully, You specialize in Love.  And Your sacrifice makes it fair.

“God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  (Romans 5:8)

The Only Sure Thing.

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW that you have Eternal Life.”  (1 John 5:13)

Gratefully Yours,

Abba’s Girl
