On Pins & Needles…!!!

Lord, Your timing never ceases to amaze me!

By Your grace, Lord, I had the precious opportunity this past weekend to minister to some pastors’ wives as part of the women’s conference in New York.

Just yesterday, I was talking with a dear sister-in-Christ who brought up the needs of pastors and their wives.

“So Christ gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature in attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”  (Ephesians 4:11-13)

Coincidence?!  I don’t even believe in those!  So what “God-incidence” were You orchestrating, Lord?   🙂

Pastors are leaving the ministry at an accelerating rate due, in large part, to burnout.  Pastors are placed on pedestals by many of those who turn to them for godly counsel and compassionate care.  But who do pastors turn to when they have need of the very same things?

And what about pastors’ wives?  It can be challenging enough to be married to one who is in such high demand and who works (or is available) six days of every week.  But what about when her pastor husband retires?  For much of her life, she has been known as the Pastor’s Wife.  Who is she now that he’s retired???

You have called me, Lord, to serve Christian women of influence.  Pastors’ wives certainly fit that description.

Today, I went to a monthly networking event.  I had joined this particular group back in June.  One of the first people I met back then was a woman who has a significant sphere of influence in the local area.  She is not my “target client” (she is not a Christian… YET!).  But You knit our hearts together, Lord… for purposes beyond what are evident at present.

After hearing me introduce myself and my work, she came up to me to tell me there was someone I needed to call.

“I think you two will really hit it off.”

So I called her, right after our networking lunch was over.  And I reached her… in New Mexico of all places!  “You don’t know me, but…”

What I found was much more than a chance encounter.  Your orchestration was unfolding in the most gentle yet radical way(s).

Like when she told me what she and her husband are doing.

First, they both love YOU, Lord, with a passion!  And You are leading them to create a retreat facility somewhere in — here it comes — VIRGINIA.  For a specific group You have burdened them to serve.

Pastors and their wives.

Why doesn’t this surprise me???   🙂

“May those who delight in My vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, ‘The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of His servant.”  (Psalm 36:27)

Ho-hum… I guess today was just another boring day in this totally predictable Christian life I lead…

HA!!!    🙂

On pins and needles… !!!
