No Excuses!!!

What’s the “kilowatt” power of a testimony about one of Your servants, Lord?

How could such a testimony fail to light up the whole world???  It’s about You, after all!

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the Light of the World.  Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.”  (John 8:12)

I just watched an amazing testimony about one of Your servants, Lord!  A film entitled “23 Blast,” based on the life of Travis Freeman.  A 12-year-old who was “made” to play football. At least, according to the coaches who knew him.

He not only played football… he loved football!

Until one day, within 24 hours, this 12-year-old football player went from 20/20 vision to total blindness.  A rare disease that attacked suddenly and ruthlessly.

All I can say is… WOW!!!

No, there was no miracle of sight restored.  But miracles abounded in his life!!!  Through Your abundant Grace, his determination and the right people You divinely placed in his life at the perfect times.

The miracle of his learning to live again — truly live — when he could have crawled into a hole and chosen to die.  The miracle of his return to school.  Not some school for the blind, but his own school… where he excelled.

The miracle of his return to the football field.  Not as a water boy or an equipment assistant, but as the first (only?) blind American football player.

The miracle of his learning of braille and finishing his undergraduate college degree in just over four years.  The miracle of his subsequent master’s degree… and his Ph.D.  The miracle of his becoming a pastor and a college professor.

Just to name a few!!!

Because, as Travis says:  “Disability is not inability.”

When was the last time I heard myself whining or ranting about something, Lord?  About anything?  Maybe that’s part of the “kilowatt” power of a testimony about You, Lord…

Testimonies like these never fail to give us perspective.

“Be good to Your servant while I live… Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things…”  (Psalm 119:17-18)

Testimonies like these never fail to amaze us!

“They speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty — and I will meditate on Your wonderful works.  They tell of the power of Your awesome works — and I will proclaim Your great deeds.”  (Psalm 145:5-6)

Testimonies like these never fail to inspire courage in us!

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”  (Isaiah 41:10)

If we’re listening, that is.  If we’re open to You, that is.

If we’re willing to let go of our “Poor Me” and grab hold of our “Praise God!”

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! AMEN.”  (Ephesians 3:20)

Next time I start to feel sorry for myself, maybe I will need to…

Remember this day, look in the mirror and say:  NO EXCUSES!!!

Because “… with God, all things are possible.”  (Matthew 19:26b)

Joyfully awestruck…   🙂   🙂   🙂
