Never a Right Time for the Wrong Place

You and I have been in a conversation together for the past ten days.  A life-and-death conversation.

This conversation became necessary because I had “let my guard down”… ever so slightly.  As a result, I was beginning to “dabble” in “old patterns.”  “It’s no big deal,” I theorized.  I was wrong.  Suddenly, the “dabbling” became a portal sucking the life out of me.  I’m guessing the feeling is not unlike being sucked into a black hole.

The “old patterns” were all about bondage.  Patterns from which You had delivered me, Lord.  Patterns to which I was no longer captive.  So why was I jumping back into them with both feet?

I was not in the right place… and I knew it.

I am so lost without You, Lord!  You were quick to remind me that You hadn’t moved.  Quick also to remind me that each day, there are blessings and curses set before me.  Which will I choose?  Will I walk in Your Light or settle for the darkness?

You will not make the choice for me… but You will always be with me.  You will exhort me to make the right choice.  You will strengthen me and help me.  You will purify me from all unrighteousness.  But I must choose.

“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”  (Galatians 5:24-25)

I heard from a dear sister-in-Christ today.  She lives 900 miles away from me.  You had given her a “word” for me about a week ago.  It came in the form of a question.  She shared it with me just today, not knowing its significance:

“Are you in the right place?”

No, Lord… I wasn’t.  And yes, Lord… By Your Amazing Love, Your Abundant Kindness and Your All-sufficient Grace, I am walking in freedom again.  Choosing LIFE.  Settling for darkness no longer.

I might add the voices of opposition coming at me from all sides were almost audible.  The enemy is relentless.  He wants me to believe his power trumps my weakness.

He is wrong.

“Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him.  For the Lord is your life.”  (Deuteronomy 30:19b-20a)

Gratefully in Your grip,

Abba’s Girl
