My Favorite Storyteller

The Power of A Story Lived.

Our past is our history.  For some, it is A Story Inflicted.  A Story Endured.  A Story Survived.  A Story To Be Forgotten.  But if we look closely enough, with the hindsight that is often 20/20, we may see that our past is really His-story (Your story, Lord) in our lives.

There is nothing like Your God-encounters to bring healing and wholeness to the brokenhearted!  There is nothing like Your God encounters to bring freedom to those shackled by prisons like addiction, hatred, bitterness, self-condemnation!  There is nothing like Your God encounters to turn a Story Inflicted, Endured, Survived or Forgotten into A Story LIVED.  A Story Lived which can be viewed only through the incomparable lenses of Your Healing Grace, Your Unfailing Love, Your Steadfast Faithfulness, Your Redemptive Power.

“One thing I do know.  I was blind but now I see!”  (John 9:25b)

But A Story Lived is still A Story Unfinished, isn’t it, Lord?…  until it becomes A Story TOLD!

The Power of a Story Told magnifies exponentially the blessings that are inevitable whenever A Story LIVED is revealed — passed on — to others.

Like Your story, Lord.

Every teaching, every miracle, spreading like wildfire throughout the land where You walked more than 2,000 years ago.  Bringing throngs of people from far away — people who were longing only to hear Your Voice or touch Your cloak.  The Desperate.  The Curious.  The Skeptics.  Even the Jealous.

And now, more than 2,000 years later, every teaching and every miracle is still spreading like wildfire throughout the whole world!  The spoken word became the Living Word and then, the written Word… reaching almost every people group on the planet today.  A planet filled with 7 Billion people!!!

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish… so is My Word that goes out from My mouth:  It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”  (Isaiah 55:10-11)

So it is with our stories, too… isn’t it, Lord?

When You come to us, and we let You in, You begin to rewrite our “mess” into Your Message to us… and we are changed forever, for the better.  And if this blessing came only as a gift to us, Lord, reserved for us alone, it would be more than enough.  What could be more priceless than our Story of Death becoming our Story of LIFE?!

But Your thoughts and ways are so much higher — and better — than ours!  You know The Power of A Story TOLDso You made us Your Ambassadors.  Unlikely characters whose “messes” You turned into Messages, not just to us, but through us… so we could become Your Megaphones!

Are we able?  “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  (Matthew 19:26)

Are we willing?  “Come, follow Me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.'”  (Matthew 4:19)

The ability is Yours, Lord.  The choice is ours.  May my (our?) heart always be like that of Joshua, who declared with passion:

“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
(Joshua 24:15)

Choosing You,

Abba’s Girl
