Mirror, Mirror on The… Lake!

It was breathtaking, Lord!  My view of our lake this morning!

Technically, Your lake.   🙂   But I am oh-so-grateful to see it outside of our house!  It looked like a photograph.  I could even see the leaves on trees, etched with crystal clarity in the still water.

It reminded me of other mirrors, Lord.  Like the ones You hold up to me.  So I can see myself as You see me.  Funny how we can both look at my reflection and see it — see me — so differently.

I am the critical one.  My own worst enemy sometimes.  After many years, through Your loving caress, You have trained my eyes — or is it my heart? — to see Beauty.  But… I am always at least a little self-conscious.

I still see what I lack.  You see who You love.  ME!  The “One-of-a-Kind Special” ME.  The “You-Broke-the-Mold-When-I-Was-Born” ME.   🙂

You never condemn me for any of my brokenness.  You are always inviting me to the Hope, Healing and Wholeness that only You can deliver.  IF only I will follow You wherever You want to lead.

So I can become more like You, Lord.  So over time, as we look into my mirror together, we both see the Family resemblance.   🙂

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”  (Romans 8:29)

You bring out the best in me, Lord!  No… You ARE The Best in me!

“Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you…?”  (2 Corinthians 13:5)

“God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the Hope of Glory.”  (Colossians 1:27)

There’s another mirror that leaves me breathless, Lord.  The mirror of Your eyes.  I see it now with my faith eyes.  One day, I will see it with my natural eyes… up-close-and-personal.  I can’t see what I lack in that mirror.  I’m too captivated by Your Love.

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.  And now these three remain:  Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.”  (1 Corinthians 13:12-13)

Still breathless,

Abba’s Girl
