Mind Games… Soul Games

I have played Mind Games on Facebook lately.  Just a few… posted by Friends.  Mind Games centered around seeing what’s different.

How many faces are in this tree?  Find the mistake in this herd of zebras.  Find the tiny “C” in this “sea” of tiny O’s.

Some people said they were still looking for solutions… and it was driving them crazy!   🙂  Some had seen answers in as few as ten seconds.  It took me only part of one.  It isn’t that I’m smarter.  It’s just how my mind works.  (At least, with these particular puzzles).

But You got me thinking, Lord:  Aren’t we, as Christians, supposed to be different?  How long does it take others to recognize that we are?  Different in ways that actually draw people to You… instead of driving them away?

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”  (Ephesians 4:29)

I’ve been hearing and seeing (in writing) a lot of unwholesome talk lately.  During (and since) this latest election cycle.  Even now, concerning the “Last Days” cycle many of us believe we are living in.

Talk that sometimes makes my heart cringe.

It should be expected from those who don’t know You, Lord.  Lost people act like lost people.  But from Your own children?  I’m not pointing fingers.  Whenever I do, I see three fingers pointing back at me! I’m just thinking… about the Soul Games we sometimes play.  Even without realizing it.

“Then we will no longer be infants… blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.  Instead, speaking truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.”  (Ephesians 4:14-15)

Speaking Truth… in Love.  Become like You… in every respect.  A Tall Order, indeed.

The Truth is vitally important… isn’t it, Lord?  But can our delivery overshadow the very Truth we are trying to convey?

“Who you are speaks so loudly, I cannot hear what you are saying.”  (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Who are we, Lord?  And what is our most important Message?

“He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are Christ’s Ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf:  Be reconciled to God.”  (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Yes, spiritual warfare plays a part.  A big part.  Sometimes we’re speaking Truth in Love, totally in step with You… and the hearer recoils.  And maybe even strikes back.  Still… Maybe Your reason for pointing me to these latest Facebook games has been about both the Mind and the Heart.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  (Romans 12:2)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”  (Proverbs 4:23)

Longing to be different, Your way…
