Maybe Next Week?

I raised my hand today.

Funny how such a simple thing can seem like such a risky thing.

I was participating in a live web-based training.  With some sixty people from all over the world.  So my hand was raised via technology, through one click of my mouse.

Only the leader saw my “hand” raised.  I was hoping for some live coaching.  So why might that be risky?

The course is about how our wounds help us connect with the work we are meant to do and the people we are meant to serve. Work that has deep spiritual implications.  Like how we were wounded.  The extent of our healing.

The source of our healing.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”  (James 1:17)

Most people in this class don’t believe this, Lord.  How do I know?

By what people have written in the introductions and comments they have posted on a private Facebook page.  And by comments they have made as they have interacted with the leader online.

Most have found their “healing” in their own wisdom and/or through various “spirit guides” to whom they have turned.  Some have specifically spoken Your name, Jesus… only in the context of declaring their rejection of You on their way to “enlightenment.”

Am I Your only child in this gathering, Lord?

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere.”  (2 Corinthians 2:14)

The leader didn’t call on me.  Did he just run out of time?  Is he concerned about giving me air time, not knowing what I might say?  Or did You stop him, Lord?  Because today was not the proper timing for whatever You want to do in that venue… with me and/or through me?

How could I talk ever about the work You have called me to do without acknowledging You, Lord?  It is not possible.  You are the Source of any wisdom I am able to impart to my clients.  And You are the Source of all healing and empowerment they are blessed to receive.

So even when I am asking for help, this conversation — if and when it happens — can only be a testimony to Your glory and grace.  A testimony, if and when it happens, that someone on the call that day will desperately need to hear.

You know exactly when it needs to happen… don’t You, Lord?

Maybe next week?

“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.”  (Psalm 40:1-3)

Expectantly,

Abba’s Girl
