Majestic Migraine!

I don’t remember the last time I was so tired, Lord.

We returned from the Bahamas today at mid-afternoon.  I rushed home and scurried around with a fair amount of house cleaning and bed making for beloved extended family members arriving today for a reunion.

Several problems needing immediate attention.  A leaking air conditioner, generating an emergency repair call.  Multiple lights not working.  A beeping smoke alarm.

A delicious dinner with family seasoned with delightful conversation came next.  Finally, unpacking my suitcase and doing laundry.  As I sit here now after 10:30 PM, my body and mind both tell me it is way past time for bed.

So tonight, Lord, I will only praise You for one God-encounter.  It happened today on the plane from the Bahamas to Ft. Pierce, Florida.  Another precious example of how precisely You orchestrate our steps… in abundant kindness.

I had one of my ocular migraines.  They come at unexpected times without any apparent trigger.  There is no pain, so they’re not a source of suffering.  They impede my vsion significantly, however, so I have to close my eyes and wait for them to pass.

Inside my eyelids, I see large spots.  It’s almost like looking too closely at a very bright object and temporarily burning the retina.  The shapes are always some version of ovals that just have to fade over time.  It usually only takes a couple of minutes.

Today, one of those migraines hit me out of the blue. And as I was watching this ovals inside my eyelids, I had a random thought.  “Wouldn’t it be cool if one of those “burn” spots was in the shape of a cross?”

It wasn’t a prayer.  It was just a random thought.  Or so I thought.

Less than five minutes later, I had a second ocular migraine.  This in itself is very rare.  I usually only have one every few weeks, or even months.

And right in the center of that big circle was something I had never seen before:  The shape of Your CROSS!!!

I had just been telling a fellow mission team member how important every detail of our lives is to You, Lord!!!

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”  (Matthew 10:29-31)

Oh, Lord… You make me weep with awe at how very present You are!!!  Not only to help us in times of trouble, but to bless us by simply making Yourself known to us every single moment!!!  As the One who loves to delight Your children!!!

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will… rejoice over you with singing.”  (Zephaniah 3:17)

Way to bless my socks off, Lord!!!  🙂

Gratefully,

Abba’s Girl
