Love Poured Out – Part 2

Oh, Lord… You know better than anyone how I have been struggling with my Internet since I started to draft yesterday’s post!  I had only just begun when I saw a message “Connection lost.”  I haven’t been able to access it since!!!

After HOURS on the phone with my Internet Service Provider and web designer, I have discovered the solution.  The temporary solution, that is.  Drive to the nearest big city (which, today, is 20 miles away).

The ISP cannot come out until Wednesday to check out the hardware.  Meanwhile, here I sit in a parking lot…. THANKING YOU for Your BLESSINGS!!!

Thank You, Lord, for my iPad!  Thank You, for this breakthrough — my website is WORKING, even though our home network remains disabled.  Thank You, especially, for our encounter yesterday!  And the whole post, which I enter now…

It was a slow, drizzling rain.

We welcomed it.  We had been in a drought for weeks.  This drizzle was just what we needed.  A slow, soaking rain.  Not the gully-washing torrent that often comes with thunderstorms.  A rain that penetrates.

A Gift from You.  To saturate the water-starved Earth.

Love Poured Out.  Slowly.  Surely.

“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him.  As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”  (Hosea 6:3)

I looked out over the mountain that faces our front yard and whispered, “I love you, Lord.”  Suddenly, my spiritual eyes saw a different scene.

The Cross at Calvary.  With You on it, Jesus.

Drop-by-drop, Your own blood flowed down.  Into the sin desert.  A flow that penetrates.

The Gift of You, Lord.  To saturate the Grace-starved Earth.

Love Poured Out.  Slowly.  Surely.

“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus…through the shedding of His blood…”  (Romans 3:23-25)

Most people still reveled in the dryness.  Some drank deeply with uplifted mouths.  It’s the same even now…isn’t it, Lord?

I stood in the slow, drizzling rain.  This reminder of Your saturating Grace.  Refreshing the earth.  Redeeming our souls.

I stood in the slow, drizzling rain.  This reminder of Your Tears.  Because the cost — and pain — of Your Grace was great.

I stood in the slow, drizzling rain.  Looking up.  Tuning in.  Drinking deeply.

Ready to embrace The New Day.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.  To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of Life.”  (Revelation 21:6)

Gratefully…

Expectantly…
