I don’t know if it will make any difference.
I have a meeting with a good friend on Monday. My friend loves You dearly, Lord. I know You feel the same way about my friend. I guess that’s why You arranged for this meeting between us. To talk about the path my friend is on — a path that is leading downhill. Instead of speaking grace and truth to those in my friend’s sphere of influence, my friend is speaking a combination of grace and error. The path we are on really matters. My friend’s path leads to nowhere good.
What am I to say, Lord? And how willing will my friend be to really listen… and to respond in ways that please You? I was sharing these heart burdens with You yesterday when I felt stirred by Your Spirit to look at Your Word. Then, I did something I don’t do very often. I used the “You choose, Lord” approach to reading the Word. I dropped my Bible and let it open “automatically,” trusting that whatever my eyes first saw would be significant to the burdens on my heart. It certainly was.
“Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked, but those who heed it resist them… If anyone turns a deaf ear to My instruction, even their prayers are detestable. Whoever leads the upright along an evil path will fall into their own trap…” (Proverbs 28:4,9-10a)
Amazing, Lord. Yet who am I to speak to this friend, Lord? This friend who is a leader of many? I don’t know if it will make any difference… but I have to try.
Have mercy, Lord. Fill me with words of grace and truth. Words that are not my own. Words that my friend will know are from You.
“Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. Remember, Lord, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.” (Psalm 25:5-6)
