Looking Up!

In the predawn hours this morning, I didn’t know why You sent me to a particular book in the Bible, Lord.  Why You had me meditate on a particular passage.  Today of all days.

Much later, I understood.

The passage is one of encouragement… and exhortation.  It reflects the ardent prayer of fellow laborers in Your Kingdom. Prayers that Your people will live up to the destiny You have ordained for them… come what may.

The passage appears immediately before Your prophetic words about some key events yet to come.  Tough events for Your people, followed by Your great deliverance forever!

I heard some news today concerning particular world events.  How ironic I would hear this particular news on the day You lead me to that particular Scripture.  Yet another divine orchestration masquerading as a “coincidence.”

I just love it when You do that, Lord!   🙂

“… we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.  We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”  (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12)

“We constantly pray…”  — Always in communion and open communication with You, Lord. Listening more than speaking (because we have two ears and one mouth).  Doing this without having to even think about it, just like breathing.

“… for you…” — On our behalf, knowing our needs and the desires of our hearts.

“… that our God may make you worthy…”  — Only You can, Lord.  We cannot do this in our own power or might, but only by Your Spirit.  You made us and continue to remake us.  You redeemed us, cleansed us and are continuing to transform us into Your image, Lord — the only One worthy of our praise!

“… of His calling…”  — You chose us and called us to be Your very own! You made each of us one-of-a-kind special!  You have set aside work for each of us to do that You have for no one else.  Work that will honor You and bless us, even Windows 10 Key as it advances Your Kingdom.

“… and that by His power…” — You are THE Almighty, Lord, who is ALL-POWERFUL!

“… He may bring to fruition…” — Apart from You, we can do nothing.  As we abide (remain) in You and You in us, You cause us to bear much fruit.  Fruit that will last.

“… your every desire for goodness…” — Not just our every desire, because not all of our desires are in keeping with Yours… You and only You are GOOD… as we delight in You, You give us the desires of our hearts because You have changed our desires to become Yours.

“… and your every deed prompted by faith…” — Every action You prompt in us that calls us out of our comfort zone and/or out of complacency.   Every deed that demonstrates we walk by faith and not by sight.

“… we pray this so that…”  — in order that… to achieve the result that…

“the name of the Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you…”  — The Name above every name!  The Lord who rules and reigns in our hearts and over the Universe!  The One who is glorified, honored, revered, adored and highly esteemed because You receive the credit for any “good” we have (by Your Spirit) achieved!

“… and you in Him…”  — We are Your servants, seeking to be faithful and true to You.  To walk uprightly in integrity.

“… according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”  — The riches of Your unmerited favor!  Your Ephesians 3:20 ability!  Your promise and provision of Abundant Life!  You are our God — personal and approachable, not distant and impersonal.

May this be Your blessing over us tonight, Lord, as the time of our lives continues to fly by!  Drawing us ever closer to The Day we will finally see You face-to-face.  Empowering and emboldening us for all the days and nights between Now and Then.

During this final “season” of life on Earth — the most thrilling time in all of history to be alive… and to be Yours!!!

Looking up,

Abba’s Girl
